Taro is a girl from Hawaii that is currently helping run her family's tea shop. She is warm and friendly with many of the locals and is generally well-liked. She has aspirations of her own, but at the forefront of her life is helping her aging parents (as is tradition, after all) and she really doesn't mind the shop.
She has a close friend (and potential love interest) in the form of Kukui, a local kukui nut farmer who often visits the tea shop to (as he claims) "try new teas" (but anyone can see that he talks to Taro more than he drinks his tea).
