Oh, how Kalua disliked these high-class social events, everyone being so overly polite as they flashed fake smiles and laughs. Coming from a well-known family, Kalua had been attending these events since a young age and the magic and excitement had long worn off. If it were not for the fact this gathering was for charity she wouldn't have shown up at all.Rearranging her fur stole, she glanced around the hall looking for someone she might have something in common with. She recognised most, if not all, of the attendees but none of them would she be willing to call friends, most were simply too dull or mainly wanting to improve their own social standing. At least she could admire all of the beautiful outfits they had chosen to wear.She sipped at her champagne, wondering when the formalities would be over and the charity drive would begin, she longed to get home and get back to work.

While Kalua came from a rather wealthy and old family she had never let herself rely on that fact to succeed. She'd worked hard to get where she was today, the lead editor of a top fashion magazine, combining her two passions in life. While she knew her father's influence could have made it all so much easier but she wanted the pride that came along with earning something. She had spent years pouring herself into her studies and climbing the ranks, starting as a lowly intern who had barely any say in what appeared in each issue. She'd proven herself, showing an eye for detail and a strong love for the fashion world that kept her on top of all the current styles. She delighted in attending as many fashion events as possible, eagerly browsing for the most beautiful and in designs.

It was only a matter of time before she made a splash in the fashion world herself, often spending her quieter evenings sketching up designs in her office or walking the main streets of the city for inspiration. Kalua just felt she needed the perfect design to make an entrance, something that would show who she was and what she was all about, give her the confidence to make that final step.

So far, the few items she had crafted herself had brought praise from those around her, leaving her barely able to contain her excitement at the prospect of people liking her work and ideas. She'd never let slip she had made the garments, instead passing it off as a hidden gem she had found. While she appeared to have all the confidence in the world, she knew just how easily that could all crumble. Her mind was often plagued with the thought of failing and she was terrified of losing everything by making the wrong decisions. When the time was right, she would know and then she would take the fashion world by storm.
