This pet is a tribute to legendary nautical hero Odi, better known as Tentacolino. Featured in the 1999 Italian animation The Legend of Titanic, and its equally terrible 2004 sequel, In Search of the Titanic, aka Tentacolino. Arguably the two worst animated films of all time—historical inaccuracy, inconsistencies, plot holes, and fantastic stupidity—VERY loosely based on the sinking of RMS Titanic.

In the first film, a villainous shark named Ice Teeth tricks Odi into an iceberg throwing contest, which causes Titanic to sink. Odi sees the ship splitting in two and rises up from the water, somehow growing to become as huge as the ocean liner itself, wrapping his tentacles around to hold it together. Several whales and dolphins come flapping over (yes flapping) to assist the rescue. All the passengers are saved and taken aboard RMS Carpathia in the morning. No one dies, there's a great celebration in the harbour, and Odi is a hero. Hooray!

The sequel is set a few years later. Survivors Don Juan and Elizabeth, along with a few animal friends, search for the sunken wreck in a bathysphere. That nasty Ice Teeth cuts the cables to sink the bathysphere, but merfolk come to the rescue. The king of Atlantis sends Odi to recover Titanic. The entire ship is brought to the bay of a secret island to become Don Juan and Elizabeth's permanent home.
