He remained perched on the Tree that shadowing the land below. The Tree had been the sole source of knowledge, belief, and power, to never be questioned by anyone. Everyone below had been rooted by one society; at least in in their limited minds. There was only one way of thinking, one way of living, one way of looking. Nobody questioned it.
They had always known different as unacceptable. Whispers, threats, media, celebrities, and the Tree had always controlled the thoughts and mindset of those shadowed below. Some days were peaceful, others were loud. The quiet days consisted of hearing nothing of the insects. The insects were simply hidden, pushed aside, and the less fortunate and poor.
The less fortunate were mere insects in a world of mighty bears. Sharks, within the ocean, had their own special place that had collected from those less fortunate, and from those who work hard in order to feed their families. You never heard from those from those from the luxurious, crisp ocean. They had known nothing of the struggles of the insects. The insects had lived their entire life in dirt, only communicating with one another because nobody else would listen.
The loud days consisted of guns, grenades, tanks, and violence. It had no words throughout the day. The only sound was of the shots throughout the thick divide, out of sight from the Bears, the creatures that were not too rich, and not too poor. Most Bears living below the tree remained unaware, distracted by the media and taking life day by day.
Struggling and currency was their only way of living. Otherwise, you'll starve, be out of shelter, and shunned. Death only occured when it involved the Bears. The insects meant purely a passing glance, to be blamed on themselves for their unfortunate demise.
One dark, rainy day, fog surrounded the Tree. The fellow Bears were unaware of the young Bear going against their parents and approached the Tree. The young Bear eagerly climbed the tree, grasping and scratching on branches as it approached the top. The Bear's parents began yelling from below, and others had gathered alongside them to watch out of curiousity.
"I've been waiting for you," The bird said, "I have been waiting a long, long time." The youngling looked up, staring straight into the bird's eyes. "Why are things this way? I am tired of pushing aside insects. They deserve more than this."
The bird grinned slightly. "You're right. And I know you feel that it is time for you to speak out for those who are silent." The small Bear nodded, and the bird holds an apple before them. "Take a bite."
The Bear took a bite and grimaced a little. "See, it is a bit sour," said the bird, "And others will find it more sour, perhaps refuse to try it. Don't let that stop you from eating and sharing this apple. After it is finished, use the seeds to create more trees like my own."
The young bear climbed down, hearing words of curiousity and some of anger. "Why did you go up there?" Asked the mother sternly, surrounded by bears that had been judging from afar. "I found this apple," said the young bear before handing it to their mother. "Please, taste it!"
The mother bit into the apple and had a look of disgust on her before before the taste went away. She then hugged her child. "It's not the greatest apple I've tasted, but it's different." The mother then proceeded to share the apple with others, and try other apples from the insects.
To this day, the apple is still shared. It is still refused, but it exist. Someday, perhaps everyone will have a taste and enjoy it. The Insects will be beautiful, colorful butterflies, living along the Bears. Maybe it'll make it to the ocean. Until then, eat your apple, and share it with kindess and passion. You can change the world.
