Renaria grew up on the island of Lyrcisan in a small village,
Jubonjir which was isolated from the other villages of Lyrcisan.
Renaria quite often when adventuring in the vast forest which surrounded Jubonjir.
The island, which is 8,000 square miles in diameter (20720 kilometers),
is not only heavily populated with humans,
but there are also monsters which roam the lands, which many come from neighboring islands.
On many of her adventures in the forests of Lyrcisan, she enjoys slaying monsters,
especially with her short sword. One day while adventuring,
she had gotten caught up in slaying a specific little group of demonic lizard creatures.
They hissed and screeched,
their small scaly arms flailing wildly while they ran at her with a mixture of fear and rage on their faces.
With a very precise swing, she had slain them all.
She smiled widely and then sighed. As she turned the opposite way to walk home,
she bumped into something.
She looked up and a look of fear struck her face.
The biggest monster she's ever seen was now standing right in front of her,
and it looked just like the little ones that she had just slain.
"This must be their mother" she thought. "Shit..."
She stumbled to get up and the monster stomped its foot right next to her head
as she fell over after a failed attempt of standing.
She jumped up as quickly as she could, her knees shaking wildly.
The monster roared, it was the loudest thing she ever heard!
She turned and ran as fast as she could away from the beast.
The colossal creature's every step felt like an earthquake.
She ran as fast as she could but it seemed like she would never get away,
it seemed like every step she took, the beast took five. Just when she thought all hope was lost,
like she was going to be endlessly running from this thing,
she saw a bright light, she thought she was saved.
She ran faster, trying to find out what the light was.
As soon as she thought she was finally safe, she ran face-first into a very large gargoyle type of statue.
The statue was beautifully carved with intricate detail, it looked almost real.
It was a pale reddish-orange, but it was mostly gray, it looked a bit sad too.
"What am I doing staring at this statue?! That monster is right behind me!!!"Renaria quickly realized.
She heard the beast's incoming footsteps.
"Oh god! Oh my god! Wh-what am I going to do!? It's going to kill me!!!" Renaria cried.
The statue's eyes started glowing a bright blue.
Renaria gasped as she looked at the statue that started to look as if it were trying to move.
"RRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!"
the monster that had been chasing her was right behind her!
Renaria screamed so loudly she fell to her knees and started to cry.
The statue was rumbling furiously. The monster took one more step forward,
as it did the statue burst and a large red dragon creature
surrounded with fire came out of the remains and flew towards the monster.
As Renaria looked up to see what the loud noise was, the creatures were battling furiously.
The dragon had tackled the monster and stood on top of it,
the dragon then grabbed the monster by its throat and let free a large blast of fire from its mouth.
The dragon holding the now half-dead monster by its throat flew up into the air
and swung the monster around and then let go,
the monsters body flew thousands of miles and landed in the ocean.
Renaria stood up, happy but confused.
The dragon flew down and landed about ten feet away from Renaria,
as the dragon walked towards her he started to look different.
He became shorter and took on a human shape.
He stood in front of Renaria; he was a very tall boy with bright blue eyes and light orange hair.
He looked at her and said, "See this?" as he pointed at the small black star on his cheek.
Renaria looked confused.
"It's because of you." He went on saying.
"I-I'm sorry?" Renaria replied.
"No, you didn't do anything wrong" he said, smiling.
"Well,thanks for saving me but...I have no idea what you're talking about?"
Renaria said with a confused look on her face.
"Oh! Yes! I should probably explain!" the boy said.
"Well, first of all, my name is Shugon; I am what you people would call a guardian"
As soon as he said that Renaria remembered a story her grandmother told her when she was very young.
The story was that everyone knows monsters come from the earth,
but there were certain types of monsters, that weren't bad, these ones were called guardians.
Her grandmother told her, no one was sure where these monsters came from,
but they would normally be disguised as some sort of inanimate object until they were needed.
Their activation required a person in great need of help, and once they were activated by someone,
a special mark will appear somewhere on the guardian's body and then,
they would stay by that person's side forever.
Renaria looked at Shugon and smiled. "I never expected that old story was true!"
Shugon got closer, as he put his forehead on hers she blushed.
He then stepped back, looked at her and smiled.
Renaria couldn't stop blushing. "I-I'm sorry that was just-"
And before she could finish her sentence, he leaned in and kissed her.
