Bunn has a minion!

A cheerful breeze swayed the tops of the tall grass, a smattering of trees dotting the spacious yard, all of which was hemmed in by a neat wooden fence. The nearest neighbor was a hefty stone’s throw from the sun-speckled pond that bordered the fence, a large wooden gate half ajar.

The peaceful scene was shattered as a burly feline dug its claws into the grassy ground as he landed, barely ducking a heavy ceramic hand that clipped the tips of Bunn’s ears. Or, as the faeries called him-
“Watch out Sir Bunn!”

A second hand hurtled past the grey feline’s head, the cat nimbly dodging the blow thanks to the warning. His target would have been difficult to see in the tall grass, but its bulk made that task a bit easier.

Appearing as dragonflies, the backyard fairies zipped hither and thither, only able to distract their foe with their small spears and slingshots. It was their knight, whose sole task was to down their opponent.

The defeated pieces of the last giant were still piled in the corner of the yard, but this one was bigger and more heavyset. However, the bigger they are…

The cat bunched up his muscles, launching himself to hit the side of the larger foe. The giant let out a groan, tottering, but not falling. Small toothpick spears clattered off his armored skin, the giant not able to hit the faeries, but likewise not being harmed by them at all.

“SIR BUNN! WATCH OUT!”
A smaller giant- less than half the size, charged at the cat, his swipes faster and more precise through the grass. He’d be difficult to take down….but judging from how annoyed the smaller giant was getting at the faeries, they could hold his attention.

The largest foe then turned, some noise distracting him- and that’s when Bunn struck. He pounced, landing his full weight on the left hip of the giant, causing it to slowly flail its arms, then falling directly onto a stone. As pieces flew everywhere in the sound of victory, another noise caused the battle to freeze, the faeries dispersing, cat and remaining giant to freeze in place.

“Oh Bunn, not again!”
The young girl skipped over, examining the remains of the giant garden gnome. “Dad will be furious! I know you don’t like them…..”

“…Let me guess, the cat broke the brand new gnome?” A deeper voice called out, punctuated by a sigh.

“Sorry dad….” Was the meek reply.

“Eh. It’s all right, that was a cheap one, so no big deal. Come on. It's time for school!”

As the girl turned to leave, she looked to Bunn, then to the frozen smaller gnome. “…Keep up the good work, Bunn.” She winked.

However, neither human saw that as the sliding door closed, the gnome turned its head to watch them leave.
