On a full moon in August, at the opportune magic hours, you'd think those that practice, love, and rely on witchcraft would thrive the most.
Even young, kittens can preform unbelievable feats under such circumstances.
It is a common belief among the mortal world that cats were the ones who are best paired with humans to help them preform such feats themselves. Being the familiar of choice for many, many moons. The magic is in their blood after all.

That, however, isn't quite true for Ghoul.
Ghoul was a curious being, that seemed to work backwards. However much he tried even the simplest spells would just not work for him. On days he barely tried, things would turn to the extremes in seconds.
Although on his 4th life, he was still practicing his skills so he can move on to bigger things, he never really gave up. Although he didn't understand what drove him, through countless failed potions, and many failed spells, (some that backfired horrifically) there were few that actually worked. Few, that is.

It was never his intention to cross over and begin life anew in the mortal world.
For most that was their dream, for others they were content in the life they had, to live their many lives out in the world they came from. His fate however had much bigger plans for him.
Every cat who reaches a certain level and understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses are required to pass a test if they wish to pursue life in the other world. A basic test, that shows they have control, and that they are prepared for the life they may live. It's not always guaranteed you'll end up even finding your master. Or even being alive after the first week. It's tough.
