Eralun stepped quietly across the castle towards the guest wing. Redik’s door was the second from the right upon turning into the hall. She had asked Listelles to grow a flower on the frame for her to recognize it. She knocked on the door softly, reaching up to fiddle with the ties of her dress and a few strands of hair as if making sure everything was in order. There was a clicking noise and then the door opened and Redik was standing there, still armored from earlier in the day. He’d only been in Khavael for a few hours, immediately whisked into a briefing, followed by a meal and then another meeting-- likely this was his first time to himself since he’d come through the gates.
“Eralun,” Redik said, and she immediately forgot all composure, feeling herself fluster. “Hello.”
“Hello,” she echoed, holding up the basket in her hands. “I’ve brought things.”
“Things?” Redik’s eyebrow snapped up, his lips quirking in that infuriating way they always did and she felt herself turning weak from the wave of fondness that washed over her.
“Yes. Food, and some wine. My wine.”
Redik pulled the door open, gesturing for her to enter. “Don’t let me stop you. Please, come in.”
