Letters from heaven
The water streamed down, warm and comforting, as I thought about Juneau.
A hopeful thought, an attempt at bringing myself comfort.
"Juneau's there, and she'll take care of mom". I told myself.
And while that is true, it was not Juneau's voice I heard - clearly and without doubt -but mom's.
"She's here, and she's great." she said.
It hit me as a pulse of pure love, warm and joyful and comforting.
Like the perfect mother's hug.
And I saw her then - mom - clearly.
I saw her face radiating joy, beaming like the photo from the Abacos
- that moment just before she would break out in laughter.
I cannot make images in my mind.
I cannot truly "imagine" and "see" things like others can.
Yet, here this image was, clear as if seen by my eyes.
"That's so you." I instantly thought to her.
"That's exactly what you would do."
And it is beyond true.
The first thing mom would do when she got there would be:
whatever brought those she loves the most comfort and joy.
Like her telling Dad, when he asked without truly intending to ask how she was,
that it was just so awesome there that she was definitely not coming back.
(She would though, if it were what was best for us.
She would accept decades of mortal struggle to save us sadness.
But where she is now, I'm sure she can see the whole story and she has peace with why this is a necessary piece of it).
Just before this thought of her and Juneau, I had been crying.
We are all heart broken.
I had been asking if - desperately begging in my core that -
she knew how much I loved - love - her.
This was her resounding yes.
This sense of being loved so deeply and dearly,
it was another action of a cherishing mother,
telling me how much she loved - and loves - me too.
How very you, mom.
To first do whatever can be found to bring your loved ones comfort and joy.
I miss you so much.
And I love you, forever.
