It was bound to happen one day. Malahar had cast so many spells, sent so many hexes, and done so many dubious things in his career as a high wizard, the bad karma was only ever a step away from catching up to him. And catch up to him it did that day. He was deep in the forests surrounding yet another castle, preparing to finish casting a spell to destroy that kingdom's royal family, when he heard a branch crack behind him. He whirled around, staff at the ready...and there was a high witch, the protector of that kingdom, staring angrily down at him from her horse. Malahar didn't even have time to form the words of a spell on his tongue before the witch cast a spell of her own.

It was three days before he awoke. He blinked his eyes, tried to sit up, and screamed...or roared. He blinked hard, shaking his head, and looked again at the scaled legs and claws where his human legs and feet should have been. He stumbled over to a nearby pond and looked in. A small, adorable dragon stared back at him. He scream-roared again. That witch. There was a witch. And she...what, she cursed him? What had he been doing? He didn't remember. He tried to concentrate, but the memories just came in fits and starts. Malahar. That was his name. He was...a wizard! He was a wizard, yes. But no...now he was...a dragon? And not even a scary one! No wings even! He sat and started at his reflection for the longest time before the next thought came. He deserved it. All along he knew the things he was doing were wrong - he shouldn't have killed those people, shouldn't have hexed those cows, definitely should not have tried to ruin an entire royal family. And now he was going to pay for it by spending the rest of his life as a disgustingly cute small creature.

Although he is now in the form of a small dragon, Malahar is still the very best at finding ingredients for spells and mixing potions. He has managed to obtain a small hut between Shadowglen and the Darkside, where he sells these ingredients and potions. Looking for an ingredient or potion? Stop by, but just hope you catch him on a good day...or you might get adorably roared at.
