'Hello'

The first thing you see is a smiling face. Everything else is dimmed, blurred, your eyes haven't adjusted to...wherever you are at. Everything is new. You keep squinting at the face staring directly at you.

'Hi Zephyr,' the voice was low, warm, and as you blinked up at this face, you couldn't help but be pleased. Zephyr. Your name.

You have a name.

"You have the map?"

He's not paying attention to you, crouching down and looking carefully at the shells scattered around Delphi Beach. You roll your eyes, walking up and nudging the human roughly. He yelped, falling on his butt onto the sand. He gives your a glare. "Zeph!"

"Map," you repeat, enunciating the syllable. "Do you have the map for the quest?" It was a Shinwa quest. Figures. That goddess barely gave you two a glance as she passed the map to find her missing bracelet pieces- you think after all this time, she would've gotten a better system and not have to resort to having humans find her bracelet.

The human stood up, brushing off the sand. "Yes, yes, I have the map- and the list," he added, noticing the look he was being given. He reached down and patted between your horns. "Lighten up Zeph! It's an adventure!" His eyes were shining.

You snort, starting to walk back to the boardwalk and to the Beach Shack. "It's a quest- and a timed one. If we don't hurry, we don't get the better-Hey!" But it was too late, he was already off and running to-oh no.

You tried to run up and block his path, but unfortunately he already ducked into the Adopt-R-Us building. You groan. Every time, it seemed that every time he was at Delphi, he returned with a new "brother" or "sister." Not that you didn't hate them, or didn't get along, but already the small, standardized house was cramped, and everyone was desperately searching for a bigger place because Zirconian was an average-sized Zentu, which meant he was a eight foot tall , 5000 lb of pure mass that just hated the house.

"Drin, c'mon, no," you beg, following the human inside. "You promised- and already we have Luke," you said, mentioning the quiet Montre back at the home. "We don't have the-"

You were shoved down behind a counter, a hand ineffectively covering your muzzle. Drin hushed you, crouched awkwardly beside you.

You heard footsteps, and quiet voices murmuring. Glancing at the wall, you could vaguely see two shadows. One you couldn't recognize, but the other was the vague outline of a Dragarth.

You kept quiet. This wasn't new- there were multiple times that Drin would duck behind counters, bushes, shoving you beside him as both of you waited till whomever passed. Or they would suddenly, abruptly, take detours, back ways, all to avoid...something. Someone. You didn't know who, or why- for all his friendly, open personality, Drin was surprisingly tight-lipped- but he was your owner, and you respected that.

Eventually he stood up slowly, peering around before straightening up and walking up to the desk. You followed to see him talking animatedly to a Dusk Archan Hybrid behind the counter, the Archan nodding at various intervals at the excitable human's rambling while he typed on the computer. Truthfully, you couldn't wait to become Hybrid- at your level, you were still quad, which meant walking on all fours, but at level 20, you were given the option to actually become bipedal. Honestly, you couldn't wait.

"Oh." That snapped you out of your musings. You know that oh. That 'oh' could only mean-

"You sure?" The Archan asked doubtfully. Drin nodded again. "Of course! She's beautiful." He passed his id, a small plastic card that he tend to forget everywhere. You watched with dread as the computer beeped and the Archan nodded, satisfied.

"Well, everything checks out...Grphon180?" Drin nodded, laughing as he blushed. Apparently when he made the name he meant to put in "Gryphon180" but he was too busy looking at the marvels of Subeta to pay attention to spell-check, and so 'Grphon180' was made.

At least he paid attention to spell your name correctly.

You watch with mild trepidation the Archan got up and walked out from behind the desk, going to the hallway where the kennels were located. Inwardly you sighed- Shinwa tended to give out low rewards, so dropping her quest wasn't a huge issue. Oracle, Maleria gave out better rewards than Shinwa. Besides, you could see the Wizard. He gave out a decent amount of sP. And you were working at the Temple, but soon you meet the requirements to work at Yun Enterprises and that was your dream job-

"Hey." You looked up to see Drin glancing down giving you a familiar warm smile. "You know that I love you a lot, right?"

"Of course," you say, mildly surprised. "You're my one owner." Which was true- unlike the rest of your 'family' you were the only created pet- Drin was the only owner you ever had. And sure, the human cared and loved everyone- from Psy's ramblings, to laughing with Adrian about how they had the same name- you were made for Drin and had plans to become the best Gem Artisan Yun Enterprises had ever seen. Both of you two were working hard on that goal- everyone was working hard on their own goals. You leaned against his leg, smiling softly as the human leaned back in reply.

Still, it was kind of nice that you two did so many quests tog-

Drin's phone beeped. You looked up when Drin's delighted shout echoed in the room. "What's up?'

"The Offer for the house came through- we're moving!" He said, showing the message indicating the approval. You sigh in relief. Thank Oracle.

"Which house? Veta? Riverside?" You became excited when you remembered the other one he put an offer on. "Are we moving to Atebus?" The human shook his head.

"Nope- it's a two-story house, 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, and 2 acres- the yellow and blue queen anne style one." He started typing rapidly on his phone. You think back, trying to place- "The fancy-looking one? How on earth did you managed that?" Another thought cropped up. "Wait- we're moving here?"

"It makes sense- I mean, technically it's between Centropolis and Delphi, so Zirconian, Adrian, Psy and Luna are able to commute to their jobs relatively- and yes, I'm aware that it'll make your commute longer, but there's a transportation pad down the block."

"But how did you pay for it?" A horrible thought occurred to you, and you whip your head up at Drin in horror.

"No, I didn't steal it- I'm paying for it- looks like the rest of the offers fell through," he said, rolling his eyes. "But weren't we like, 9th on the list?" You remembered the woman, a small Arid Lain on her shoulder as she warned that Drin was the ninth in the line of offers. It was a nice spot- plus there were enough space and it was out of the city and-

The Archan came back, smiling at Drin as a large Galactic Zentu followed behind. She gave both of them curious, cautious looks, shifting on her feet. "Mei-Ling, here's your new owner, Gr-"

"Call me Drin," the human interrupted, bounding up to the quiet Zentu. He beamed happily at her, laughing with delight as she gave a small laugh back. "It's lovely to meet you, Drin," she murmured. You were gaping. She was as tall as Zirconian.

...Well. At least you were all moving to a bigger place.
