There it is again.

"Iä! Iä! Cthulhu fhtagn!"

She hears those voices a lot, calling to her as she sleeps. They sound friendly, like they want to see her.

"Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!"

Maybe she should go? It is pretty lonely here.

She knows she has to decide soon; the chanting will stop eventually and she'll miss her chance.

Yes, she decides. She will heed their calls and visit their world.

The chanting grows louder and more frantic as she begins to appear amidst bright light and mysterious smoke, the cultists astonished that their summons have finally worked.

"O Great Cthulhu, we are your --" one of the hooded figures begins, but his words trail off as the light fades and smoke disperses.

There's a moment of stunned silence in the room. She looks at the cultists expectantly.

"Is that..." one of them whispers to another.

"It can't be, it's too..."

"It's so cuuuuuuuuuuuute!" one of them bursts out, hands pressed to her face.

Cthulhu waves her tentacles, delighted.

"Oh my god, I'm gonna die," one of the other worshippers whispers to another. "Look at its tiny tentacles..."

"What do you think would happen if I try to hug it?" his friend responds.

Cthulhu burbles happily, hoping to encourage her. She hasn't been hugged in a long time.

"Do not hug Lord Cthulhu!" orders their leader, frowning down at Cthulhu. She blinks up at him with a smile. "...Though I understand the temptation."

The junior cultists groan in disappointment. Cthulhu shuffles closer to the leader, tugging at his robes.

"I, uh..." he says, trying to be unaffected by Cthulhu raising two of her tentacles in a universal gesture for "up". "What is your bidding, Great Cthulhu?"

She wiggles her appendages more insistently.

The leader glares.

More wiggling.

More glaring.

"I think it wants you to pick it up," one of the others says, cautiously.

Cthulhu bounces up and down, hoping to convey that he was right.

"I can't...carry Dread Cthulhu around like a baby," the leader says, scandalized.

"But look, you're making it sad!"

"Oh, no, you can't make Lord Cthulhu cry!"

"Just pick it up, Rick!" shouts someone in the back.

"Fine, but if it destroys the world in vengeance, or causes all of us to go irreversibly mad, remember that it's your fault!"

The leader hitches up his sleeves a little, then kneels down to take Cthulhu into his arms. She nestles in immediately, pleased by his obedience and bodily warmth.

Several of the cultists "Awww!" in unison. One of them snaps a picture with a phone.

"Alex, what have I told you about bringing your phone to rituals?" the leader snaps, but it's impossible to sound genuinely angry when hugging an adorable eldritch god.

"I REGRET NOTHING," Alex shouts back.

"Who gets to hold it next?" someone asks, hand up like they're in school.

The leader considers it for a moment. "We'll draw straws."
