Legacy Name: Acai

The canopy above was lush and green and filtered down just the right amount of sunlight onto the branch that Acai had decided to claim as her own and take a much needed nap upon. She had just finished feasting upon a delicious and ripe strawberry not too long ago and her body was now a deep almost vivid red, with a cute little seed pattern dotting her body. She looked good enough to eat, which is why she had to be very careful about where she went after consuming her latest meal. Sometimes her color changing was both a curse and a blessing, depending on the day.

Still she had managed to avoid trouble by seeking out the tree tops, hiding in places most other animals wouldn't dream of looking. It was a risk but thankfully her normal skin tone came back within an hour and she would be safe. The sun was very nice right now, lulling her off into a much needed snooze, though she was always the cautious one, keeping herself awake just enough to scamper off if danger ever got too close. Acai gripped onto her branch with toes and tail and settled in for her nap, so close yet so far away. In the distance a bird's cry snapped her out of her reverie and she backed away into the shade of some nearby leaves.

Nope this was too risky and she didn't want to leave anything to chance. As she scanned her surroundings she had to think of something quick, she wanted to sleep and soon or else she was going to be very cranky. What could she do? Her eyes darted around a second time before settling on a cluster of berries growing across from the tree she was nestled on. Huh well that might prove to be useful right about now? With a hum she moved quickly down the side of one tree and across the leaf littered ground before stopping to lap up some water from a small puddle. Once sated by that she made her climb up the new tree to where the berries had been hanging.

She didn't quite know the name of this fruit but she had seen other lizards and even some birds feast on them just fine, so she would just assume they were safe. She snatched one up, nearly tumbling back to the ground because the berry was so light. Goodness there was hardly anything to it! Puffing out her cheeks she began to munch on it, getting juice all over her face, oh this was tasty! Once it had been eaten and the seed dropping to the ground below without so much as a whisper, Acai looked down to see her skin changing color. Ah this was nice, the skin of the berry was a deep green color, which meant she could parade around as a mock "leaf" for the time being and finally take her nap in the sun!

Just as luck would have it a breeze blew by and shifted the leaves above, allowing for a new patch of sunlight to appear on the very branch she was sitting on. Acai eagerly took up that spot under the warm rays and settled in for some much needed rest without any lingering fear that something might come by and eat her. She would have to find out the name of that new berry next time and perhaps keep a few handy for just such an occasion!
