Poppy sighed. “Tomothy, you’re not going to get in that way.”
Her friend, or her acquaintance if you asked her, was struggling to picklock a demonic gateway. The green haired gnome was determined to prove her wrong, he had five hundred gold riding on this.
“Pops, you can do it by saying some weird words, I’m sure I can get in with my tools.”
The black haired gnome sat down on her Fel Hound and began to imagine the ways she was going to spend her five hundred gold after he fails. “Those weird words are the lock pick you idiot.”
Tomothy stopped for a second and turned to face Poppy, he did not look amused “No, these are lock picks,” he lifted his tools to show her, “Your words are just weird.” He turned back to the door and began to work at it again. “You just have no faith in me.”
The warlock guffawed. “For once in your life you’re right about something.” With a click of her fingers she summoned an imp and perched her feet upon its head making herself very comfortable for what she knew was going to be a long time. “But I do have faith in that door and I know for an absolute fact that it’s not going to –“
A loud crash interrupted her speech, he did it, Poppy was almost speechless, as she stared at the portal that was now very open all she could muster was a meagre “Wh… what?”
Tomothy appeared to be as shocked as Poppy, he had no idea how the gateway or if he even had anything to do with it; all he knew was that he could not let Poppy know that he didn’t know. He shook away the ignition shock and beamed “I told you! Didn’t I? I told you I could do it! You never believe me.”
Poppy climbed off her demons and began to inspect the portal. It was undoubtedly an open demon gateway. Poppy needed to make one hundred percent sure so she punted her imp into the maw of the portal. Once more, at a click of her fingers the same imp appeared beside her. “Well that proves it, it definitely leads to the Twisting Nether” She couldn’t believe it, the dirty rogue actually did it. “Well..” she pulled a coin purse out of the portal and offered it to Tomothy, “I guess this is yours.”
Tomothy was as pleased as punch, he grabbed the purse and grinned enthusiastically at his warlock friend. He still had no idea how the gateway opened but he knew exactly how he was going to spend his hard earned coin. "Let's go to the inn, all that lock pickin' was thirsty work!"
The gnomes went on their way and Poppy, with a final click, shut the portal.

Tomothy was still going to make Poppy pay for the first round.
