I was on a train that pulled into the last station before heading to eternal solitude. I stepped out unknowingly, or maybe my ticket was only ever for this station. I cannot help but wonder what would have happened if I never stepped out, but that path is gone to me now.

And because I did not reach perfect solitude, I had people in my life.

People change. I change. If life was a tide pool, different creatures move in and out with the ebb and flow of the tides. Yet things fall apart in bitterness, and I wonder if the little disagreements contributed to the ending after all.

Why is it that nobody here changes for the better? Why do they spiral down similar paths? Is it me? Is it them? Why do I never see it coming? And why is it that all the happiness you get from people gets repaid, with interest, in disappointment, powerlessness, dependency?
