She saw multiple buildings on fire, wreckage scattered everywhere, and strange creatures flitting about.

A once prestigious city was now being torn apart by disaster…
And it was all being witnessed by a creature that was only several minutes old.

She had emerged from the flames that had devoured countless buildings and continued to devour more. Despite being composed entirely of fire, this newborn being wasn’t much to look at. She was a simple blob with no arms or legs. Unsure of what was happening, she aimlessly wandered around the city until something caught her attention.The blob noticed two men dressed in strange clothing free a young woman who had been trapped under wreckage.

One of the men shouted, “Go! Get this woman to the shelter!”

As he spoke, a third man came and led the frightened but grateful woman away to safety. These men being observed by the blob were rangers assigned to rescue people in emergencies.

The curious fire blob moved closer to the rangers as one of them said, “Sir, this fire is getting worse! We need to get going now or we’ll be overcome by the flames!”

“All right,” agreed his companion, “let’s do a quick search for any more civilians and then we’ll….Hey! Look out!!”

The man pointed at the fire blob moving towards them. Immediately one of the rangers utilized a water hose to protect everyone from the mysterious monster that had approached them.

The poor blob reeled back and squeaked in fright as she felt the unpleasant sensation of water throughout her entire being. Her instinct convinced the blob that fleeing from the water was necessary.

The water had shrunk the blob to a few fleeting embers. Seemingly aware of her dire condition, the blob instinctively entered a medium large fire scorching some nearby debris. Inside the fire, the blob felt a much more pleasant sensation. Instead of the harsh coldness of the water, the blob felt the inviting and comforting warmth of the fire. Indeed, the fire that destroyed others served as protection for the little blob. After a few minutes, the little blob emerged from the fire fully rejuvenated and even larger than when she had first been born.

Cautious about encountering any more rangers for fear of experiencing another water attack, the blob turned her attention to some of the other fiery-like creatures moving about the burning city. The birds were the creatures that caught the blob’s attention first, mainly because the birds’ ability to fly intrigued the blob. When the blob approached one of these fiery fliers and tried to initiate conversation, however she quickly ran into trouble. First, the blob had not learned to talk yet and could only make animal-like sounds and phrases.

Several hours later, the blob was feeling a bit sad that no creature was willing to talk to her. Her only comfort was the feelings of warmth and empowerment that she received from the fires scattered about the city. Bathing in the fire had caused the blob to grow to the size of a large truck. Suddenly, the blob heard cries a distance away. Moving toward the source of the sound revealed that a young woman was standing on an interstate road that was crumbling to pieces right under her feet! Suddenly, the fire blob saw an object race past her. The object had been moving so fast that the blob couldn’t discern what the object was. All she had seen was a blue blur. The blob was able to see said blue blur rush towards the damsel in distress and lift her off the road just before the entire structure gave way.
