Her Royal Highness Princess Leandra Ellinore Cadence Spencer was born the fifth child to the King and Queen. She had two elder brothers and two elder sisters, all healthy as bears, graceful as swans, and talented as any ever born. As far as the line of succession went she was pretty far down the ladder. Add to that the fact that she really didn't care much for hoity-toity royal things and that she trained in secret with all kinds of weaponry, and she really didn't make a very good princess. She liked to sneak out in disguise to the local pub with her maid and a guard, both of whom were sworn to secrecy and engage in very non-princessy things such as drinking, singing drinking songs, and swearing.

It was really no surprise to her family when on the eve of her fifteenth birthday, after preparing a speech in her chambers for hours, she announced that she was removing herself from the line of succession to instead become an adventurer and weapons master. The king and queen both looked at each other and smiled, shaking their heads. Their daughter was standing there, looking like she was ready to put up a fight if they refused. She had always been the hard-headed one, always needing to get her way. They laughed at her expression when they offered her a compromise, for they had known, as all good parents know their children, that their youngest would never be truly happy with the life she was born into.

A week later, she set out on Lavender, her favorite mare, a bow on her back and a sword at her side. A position as kingdom ambassador was everything she wanted - the chance to travel, see the world, fight some bad guys, drink some good mead, and of course, learn more drinking songs.
