Story

There was a time when I wanted to be human, to see and know what it would be like to live on land. I do not want that anymore. Here in the deep, there is peace. On land, there is not. There is war, cruelty, strife, bloodshed, all the things I do not understand about in the deep waters. And so, I have changed my mind, my mindset. I do not wish to be human anymore. I do not want to be someone that lives on land.

Merr is a sea creature, what humans have termed in their lexicon as a mermaid. She has found peace in living in the deep waters, in not living as a human. There was a time when she was curious about living on land, about the intricacies of living where there was no water, where she was not surrounded constantly with the pressures of being in the deep. She no longer wishes for that because as the decades have passed, as her many thousands of years have gone by, she has realized humans are imperfect. They love, they ache, they bring about their own destruction through their quests for things, for land, for power, for all the things she has no desire to own or have.
