“Do not give up. Bring the Wenja to Oros”.
The dying words of Dalso. Takkar was now the sole survivor of the hunting party. What was once dozens of young, strong Wenja ready to make their new home, was now only Takkar. He heard rumors of displaced Wenja wandering the land, but now it was time for action. Find them and bring them to Oros. But it wouldn’t be so easy as that.
Oros was a beautiful and lush oasis in the wastelands, but the Wenja were not alone. The Udam, eaters of flesh, and Izila, masters of fire, wanted the land for themselves as well. The Udam, they were primitive, sick, dying, but immensely strong and terrifying warriors. The Izila had technology. Izila had science, complex language, a social hierarchy, a calendar. Both tribes had the upper hand on the Wenja, but the Wenja had Takkar, the beast master. The Beast Master could tame any animal with the stroke of his hand, and that animal would do his bidding. Fighting other, less friendly beasts, scouting out land, defending the scattered Wenja he finds and brings home, Takkar was just who the broken and nomadic Wenja people needed to secure their home.
First, he encountered Sayla, a gatherer, in a sabretooth cave. She had knowledge of the land, and a small settlement they could turn into a village. Takkar promised Sayla he would bring home the lost Wenja scattered by the Udam, and would bring her the severed ear of Ull, the Udam’s ruthless leader.
