Hailstone arrived in the middle of the biggest blizzard the Arctic Frost had seen in ages. It was blowing snow, freezing rain, sleet, and right when Hailstone made his appearance, hail began to fall from the sky, bouncing into the cave where he was born. His father laughed and proclaimed him 'Hailstone' on the spot. Over the years, Hailstone grew bigger than any other Anyu in the Arctic Frost. The smaller Anyu, and especially the Ytivan villagers, grew to be wary and somewhat afraid of the large bear, for all that he was a very gentle creature. Partially because of the Anyu's nature, and partially because of his huge size, he began to wander the frost and look for people and creatures who found themselves in danger. The ice and snow didn't bother the large bear with his thick fur. He was a natural as a rescuer, although some of those he went to help fainted upon seeing the giant. He just sighed and went on with the rescue - it was easier when the one he was rescuing wasn't busy freaking out anyways. Unconscious meant calm and he liked calm. When he wasn't busy wandering the frost looking for someone to help, he stayed near his cave a few miles away from the village, near the outskirts of his clan's territory, and built snowmen and ice sculptures, hoping to show those who came around that he was friendly and not to be feared.
