Some months after a criticality accident at a secretive nuclear power plant, personnel there encountered an unusual yaherra specimen wandering in the area. Scientists determined that it was emitting intense radiation; attempting to capture the animal would be an unnecessary risk, so it was left to its own devices. The creature did not seem aggressive or sick, but its 'eyes' were said to radiate a strange blue glow.

It has no name, but scientists affectionately refer to it as '239,' after the isotope used in the plant. Some leave apples and mushrooms for it to find.

Bathed in radioactive debris, the creature should have fallen ill and died. But its supercritical heart will keep it alive for centuries.
