Death is such a simple thing.

Whereas life? Life is far more complex, or so it is said. Yet for Nibblets, life seemed repetitive. They either found themself in the four walled horror that was their home. Food, water, wheel, nest. These things repeated regardless of order. No friends to snuggle. No one to groom their fur. Nothing new to sniff or chew. It was simply them and their walls.

Until the doctors needed them.

Then it was squeaks and pricks and puzzles and blood. Something cold pressing against them listening. Numbers, math and charts showing information about Nibblets. Import information they would hope. It would have to be important for everything they had gone through right?

The pricks came with illness. Nibblets knew with each injection they were getting sick. Sometimes their heart would race faster than the turning of their wheel. Othertimes it would feel like they could barely move. Nibblets thought it odd the doctors always game them treats after. It seemed cruel to reward such thing with delicious snacks. Yet? Each time Nibblets was greatful. A small peace in a pile of horrible.

That was their complex life.

Until death. When cold nothingness wrapped them up tight ensuring their end. Nothing is supposed to follow. Death is simple, or so Nibblets had been told.

Yet here they stand. Dirt encrusted under their claws and their body in a stage of rot. They were dead. They were alive? Nibblets can't breath or sleep. Parts of them are falling off. This seems like a horror. Most people would probably agree that unlife was a tragedy, yet their was no walls. Just cool night air blowing through their whiskers making their nose twitch. So many smells, almost all new. And various things to chew! Nibblets could sink their teeth into anything! Wood, bone, plants, dirt, moss, WHATEVER!

If life was complex and death simple, it was obvious to Nibblets their life had just begun.
