love of my life

When we got home, I was left to explore. Roam and sniff, Roam and sniff, that was the theme for awhile. She just set on the floor and watched me. I still didn't get it, I just knew I was someplace new. After a while, she said let's meet your new friends. Oh my .... they scared me at first, but shortly after we played and played. I was beginning to feel something new.

Over the years, I learned lots of new things, met new friends, played ... AND destroyed lots of toys, got lots of cuddles, and visited many places. I've had some of the best years Ever! I never imagined I could have such a good life. And from what I have learned, that girl has shown me nothing but love. She's taught me what it means to be unconditionally loved! She's always been there for me, through the good times and bad.

I was given a diagnoses that no one saw coming. And that girl never left my side. I watched her worry and cry. She was scared of me being in pain, but never once gave up on me. She fought the fight with me, we fought it as hard as we could. But in the end, there was no cure for what they said I had. So we lived with the dread of knowing the end could be near. Days, weeks, months and years I beat their estimated timeline and continued to shine. Then one day, I got super sick. I watched her as she treasured the last moments with me and made the best of the situation that she could. One of the last things I remember is her sweet voice telling me she loved me, her life would never be the same, and that I was the Bestest Boy! She told me it was ok, she knew I was going to be ok that I would no longer be in pain.

I wonder if that girl knows that she was the love of my life? That I was made to be her boy, and that I still watch over her. If only humans could talk to animals ... but I'm sure she has a clue.
