She Was Once A Faithful Family Companion

Tantomile was once a small tabby cat that belonged to a large family who lived in the vibrant beach front of Scarset City. She was adopted at the local shelter as a kitten and has remained in the family ever since. Her name came from a character from a certain musical the eldest daughter absolutely adored and it seemed to fit nicely as she believed the pet could speak to her through her mind. Of course the family believed the daughter wasn't right in the head and thought she was making it up much to her disappointment. Tantomile herself knew better too but let the girl believe what she wanted as it didn't seem to be hurting her or anyone else. Otherwise the family life was rather peaceful and the beautiful feline couldn't have hoped for better

One day while out on a walk with the eldest daughter, the girl began muttering to herself as a storm started to blow in. It was that time of year when Scarset would be hit with some rough rainstorms and they needed to get home. Tantomile pulled gently on the leash to let her owner know they needed to get going but the girl stopped by the sidewalk that led to the beach, staring out into the once vibrant purple sky turning grey as the storm clouds began rolling in. Tantomile felt as if these clouds were a bit different than before. They had an odd aura about them, as if someone or something else was controlling their movement. The girl began wandering toward the beach and Tantomile did her best to pull her back but couldn't get a good grip on the leash and she was being choked as she was pulled along. Her ears fell back and she slowly walked beside her owner, watching the sky intently. Something was lurking and she could now smell it. Lighting soon flashed across the sky and the thunder boomed so hard it shook the very ground they stood on. Tantomile desperately grabbed onto her owner's pants leg and tried to pull but it was like the other was in some sort of hypnotic trance. No matter how hard the large cat pulled or how loud she yowled, not a single thing could break the owner's concentration. The wind whipped the pair of them as they edged ever closer to the now churning waters. Tantomile could now hear a few passersby trying to get her girl's attention without walking up to her but it also ended in failure. When Tantomile turned back to the ocean her eyes met with that of a large dog. The other was thrice the size she was and was shaped like those fancy poodles that she had met near the dog park before. There were sparks of red blue lightning flickering in and out of her fur, her eyes glowing an angry light blue. This dog is what was causing the storm, Tantomile knew it but couldn't even muster a meow loud enough to pierce the howling wind. By this time her owner had been captured by a rogue wave and was being swept out into the ocean, the lead now laying limply on the sand. This dog seemed to challenge her but she had no time and pushed past her and into the raging ocean to save her owner. The waves battered the two harshly and it was almost impossible to keep an eye on her but by some miracle Tantomile managed to get to the girl, who had grabbed onto a piece of driftwood to stay afloat. Tantomile found a way to wrap her leash around the piece of wood and paddled as hard as she could to make it back to shore, able to feel the sand below once what felt like an eternity had passed. The people that had been nearby rushed to grab both her and the girl but only managed to hold the human as Tantomile felt that her lead had snagged on something and violently pulled her back, causing her to choke. A few of the onlookers tried to get in and help but it was too late, Tantomile had been swept back out into sea. She was exhausted and slowly came to the realization that she wasn't going to make it back. Not while she had her collar on at least. She tried to pry it off with her back paws but it wasn't budging. She could feel her muscles weakening as time passed on. She flickered through memories of her family, how her little girl had grown up alongside her. How the family grew while she was in their care. The times they had gone on all those walks and she got to meet so many new friends. Tantomile looked toward the sky and saw the large lightning poodle following her from above. She snorted and made a face. Fine. If this is what that stupid dog wanted, she would succumb to the sea. Tantomile gazed into the eyes of that blasted creature one last time before dipping under the water...

The soft call of the seagulls awoke Tantomile. Her eyes fluttered open as her head slowly rose. She survived? Even after that awful poodle chased her in the sea? She looked around a little bit as she got her bearings, slowly rising to her feet. She let out a soft snort and water expelled from her nose causing her to jump back in horror. What in the world? This caused her to notice something a little different about herself and she turned her head to look at her body. Her eyes widened as she noticed she now had fins on her back? She shook herself back and forth to alleviate the stress and reexamined the area again only to see the fins had remained. Her tail was now shaped like that of a fish too though she was able to wag it as she would if it had been its original form. She approached the edge of the water and looked into her reflection, noting that she now also had black horns that curled around her ears and a strange blue pattern on her body. Her tabby coat had not changed though as it looked like the markings had been tattooed onto her. While looking at her reflection she did not hear a figure approach her from behind and startled her when it spoke.

"I see you are finally awake."
???
"Ah, confused eh?"
*Nods*
"You can speak you know, I am very aware you can talk."
"...I don't... !!"
She was even more startled by the fact she COULD speak out loud as she always just spoke in her own head.

"See? You can speak just fine."
"I don't understand... What happened to me? Why am I here? Who are you?"
"Well my dear, you were on the verge of death so I gave you one of my various potions to keep you alive. My name is Deo."
"Deo?"
"Yes. I am a potions master and this place is called Omen Islands. It is my home. It is now your home"
"..."
"Don't give me that face my dear. You'll enjoy your time here. I am sure of it. Now come. You have questions and I have answers."

Tantomile quietly followed Deo the Potions Master and began learning the ways he took care of his island home. Apparently he had a couple of adversaries on this island he hoped to one day get rid of but the time needed to be right to dispose of them properly. A blacksmith wolf and his faithful partner who goes out every day in search of materials so that he may continue his work. Tantomile does not understand why Deo is hellbent on getting rid of them as he made it sound like they're quite useful but she dare not judge as she didn't want to end up something worse than what she already was.
These days she lays faithfully by Deo's side as he perfects his craft and sends his potions out to those who are able to get a letter sent to him. Sometimes when their enemies get too close she will defend their home fiercely. Tantomile will forever miss the family who had raised her but she can't help but feel she's quite at home with Deo as well. He treats her with quite a bit of respect and will usually fulfill any requests she may have. She makes sure she doesn't ask for too much as she definitely is looking to stay on good terms with her new owner.

Acquaintances

The creature that apparently saved Tantomile from a watery grave. She was told he had brewed a potion and gave it to her to keep her from drowning. She can now swim freely underwater thanks to the enhancements this potion gave her and she's quite thankful for the rescue. In turn she helps Deo gather ingredients and defend his home whenever their enemies get a little too close to home. Of course he wants them off the island anyway but always says the time isn't right. Tantomile wonders when such a time will come to pass.
Saiki is one of the enemies that lives on the island that Deo constantly speaks about erasing from existence. He's apparently a wolf that has learned how to make weapons and jewelry and the like alongside his partner. The partner always goes out in search of materials needed to make such things. She is the stronger of the two so it would be quite easy to overpower him but Deo always says that it's not the right time to eradicate them from the island. Tantomile wonders if the pair intend to one day attack them while their guard is down.
Fengo is the faithful partner of Saiki and quite a bit stronger than him. While Tantomile does not fear the blacksmith wolf, she does truly fear the warrior. The quiet cat has lurked silently within the forests of the island just to eavesdrop on Fengo and Saiki's conversations and has learned she was once a queen that lead a warrior type tribe of sorts. Unfortunately it still doesn't explain why Deo is still determined to harm the pair of them. They appear to mind their own business for the most part and only try to defend their turf when she or her new master get a little too close. Makes sense. Wolves tend to be territorial after all. It's in their nature! Tantomile truly hopes peace can be an option one day.
The "Lightning Poodle" Tantomile observed on her last day as a mortal large tabby cat. This creature had approached the beach in Scarset City and caused quite the ruckus with her howling wind and bolts of lightning. Tantomile doesn't understand why her human had been so fascinated by such a terrifying dog but it ended up leading her right into the angry ocean. Sheba had watched Tantomile save her human but ended up sacrificing herself as she had been caught on debris and dragged further into the ocean. What Tantomile did not see is Sheba actually using the wind to guide her to Omen Islands in order to save her life. To this day the ocean wolf has a deep hatred of storms and an even deeper hate for the creature who caused them.
