It stares at me with sanguine eyes
That monster underneath my bed
And whispers all its hurtful lies
But maybe just inside my head?

The monster wants me silent, dead
And in the night its cunning tries
to reach and grab me fail. Instead
It stares at me with sanguine eyes

A voice of soft and mourning sighs
A cry that fills my heart with dread
Like siren calls to sure demise
That monster underneath my bed

In light it stays as still as lead
Just sitting quiet in disguise
At night it frightens me instead
And whispers all its hurtful lies

It taunts me with its shrieks and cries
Repeating all those words unsaid
A blackened part inside me dies
But maybe just inside my head?

I know as all the shadows spread
the fear that nightly terrifies
A promised nightmare lies ahead
An oath that leaves me paralyzed
It stares at me.
