Zindagi means Life in Persian or in modern day Hindu, So this is Zindagi an artist who went totally blind but is able to see colors when he paints
Just because someone is blind, doesn't mean they can't see. Zindagi is an example of that, Zin to his friends, was born blind in a small town called Shimla. It was a beautiful place, rolling green mountains, rivers and trees with quaint houses clustered amongst them. Zin couldn't see that beauty though. Growing up his family took him to as many shamans and healers as their small purse would allow, all said the same thing, he was never going to be able to see. They wept, howled and prayed and cursed but nothing changed so they accepted their little boy as he was. He grew up happy enough, always smiling no matter what, sometimes his parents forgot he was blind because the way he moved around seemed to all around that he actually could see, some called it a blessing in a small way. By the age of 5 he had discovered the small pieces of charcoal from the cooking fires. At first the doodles he made looked like nonsense then slowly people noticed he seemed to be actually drawing coherent shapes. Over the next few years Zin was able to listen to the sound of a bird and draw it, or listen to the wind blow through the tree leaves and sketch it out. Of course they werent to exact detail but they were already better than some of the artists in town who had visibility. Murmurs were abundant but his family sheltered him and shooed away anyone that got too negative. One old artist in town grew fond of the happy little boy and so in a crazy act decided to share his precious sticks of colored pencils that had been brought from a village far away, Zin took to them immediately. It was discovered that somehow when using colors he could "see" At first people thought he had gained his sight but so many tests were made and the only thing that was consistent for his "sight" was when he used colors in his drawings. The old artist let him practice and practice as much as he wanted. His sketches started to become in demand, people thought they brought good luck to their houses. Years later his family sent for a package of colored powered dyes to let him use for his art, then one day they did something spontaneous and wild, they mixed some of the dye into a pot of cheap paint and started letting him paint the outside of their house a bright sunny color of blue. That set even more twittering amongst their neighbors!! Everyone was unsure of what to do, they had never seen a painted house before, especially a blue one. Zin loved it, he started describing the outside of his small family home and his parents wept. His special vision allowed him to see colors only when he painted them, so if his mother gave him a description of her purple sari with the gold trim and he used his pencils to draw her, he could see it in his mind, each time he produced a special sketch it made his parents so happy. Pretty soon all the neighbors saw how beautiful that blue house looked and were begging him to paint their houses. Some neighbors did the colors themselves but most wanted Zin to paint so he could 'see' the whole village. It made him smile everytime another house grew into the rainbow of a village. Over the years his talents and styles grew to everything imaginable but his ego never grew, he stayed that happy full of life boy from a small, now very colorful village.
