Xocolatl (pronounced "Show-coe-lah-tul"), Xoco to xyr friends, is a shy, soft-spoken individual. Xe keeps mostly to xemself, preferring the company of a good book or a quiet meadow to that of other people. When befriended, however, xe reveals xemself to be a very sweet person who will constantly ply you with xyr newest recipes for cookies and cakes. Baking is xyr greatest passion, and in particular xe loves working with chocolate and mint. Xoco does not live at the library presently, but did so for a while when xe was younger, and though xe moved from Shadowglen to Riverside years ago, xe still sends letters and sweets in the post for Shinko to share with the current tenants.
Xoco's greatest secret- the thing that originally drew xem to the library as a teenager- is xyr ability to see, speak to, and channel spirits and demons. Even when Shinko is hiding from the other residents of the library, Xoco can always sense her presence, and if xe focuses, xe can see her as well. This intense spirit energy attracts a lot of attention from the other side, and the great number of spirits pressing on the boundary between their world and subeta can sometimes weaken the barrier, allowing individuals to pass through.
Attracting demons has frequently gotten Xoco into trouble, and gotten people around xem hurt, but thanks to the research xe was able to do in the library, xe managed to mostly get xyr powers under control. Xe still occasionally gets otherworldly attention though, much to xyr dismay; xe just wants to bake cookies in peace!
Xocolatl identifies as genderfluid, and prefers the pronouns xe/xem/xyrs, but is fine with any pronouns provided they aren't used with malicious intent.
