"That's it, Dylas!"

I hear this voice in my head... often. Sometimes, I think I can even see a silhouette of whomever is speaking. Mostly though, I can't tell if what I hear is even real – or if I'm just imagining it. Imagining that someone is here with me, so I don't feel alone... so I'm not so alone.

I feel like I'm not even fully aware of what's happening. Am I ..dreaming? Am I awake? Sometimes I try to wake myself, like one would do in a nightmare, but it's as if I'm instead teleported to another reality. Another memory. Another ...dream.

A new dream. I can't recognize these shadowy images of people conversing, or... is it yelling? They're all just... a blur. All of their voices are muffled and barely different from one another. They're all too similar to differentiate who is speaking to who.

All, except one.

They seem like a friend. They hang out with me. We enjoy the scenery, and the silence, and the beauty of the surrounding lake. Poles are in our hands, awaiting for the pull of a daring fish.

Sometimes, my friend gets the first catch. Sometimes, it's me – and that's when I hear it.

That sweet, almost angelic sounding voice.
