Viv tended to find crowds… uncomfortable. She was a solitary creature by nature, easily overwhelmed by the smothering press of bodies and ear-piercing cheers. Not to mention the smell of blood rushing thick and hot beneath everybody’s skin.

But week after week, she withstood it all for one reason: to see her girlfriend smash people’s faces in.

Moon was a beast on the track, big and fast and in your face. Her head-on approach earned her team their fair share of wins – and her fair share of elbows to the eye and skates to the shins, landing her a permanent rotation of scrapes and bruises.

Viv didn’t mind. The ones that bled were her favorites.

When the bout was over, she would help Moon out of her gear, pressing kisses to each small wound along the way. If a little blood happened to make its way onto her tongue, well, that was just a bonus.

It wasn’t that she reveled in her girlfriend’s suffering; quite the opposite. She loved taking care of her, tending her injuries, showing her love in every touch and kiss. It just so happened that Moon loved to let her.

They were lucky, then, that they lined up just so. One who didn’t mind getting scraped up, and one who never needed to use her fangs because of it. Well, that’s not to say she never used her fangs. Only sometimes. When they were alone. But that’s just between you and me, okay?
