maybe it was lonely here, once before.

the space around me felt deep, heavy, and loud. i would reach out my hands and when i would grasp, searching for something, my fingers would close around nothingness.

i was alone.

and i was okay with that. i had a lot of practice. i knew how to keep myself busy and content with the emptiness around me.

it wasn't until you drifted into my territory of space that i realized the emptiness hadn't only been around me — it had also been inside of me.

with your presence, the nothingness became an atmosphere and the air around me became warm. the loud silence instead became peaceful, calming music that chimed like a lullaby, soothing my heart.

and the emptiness inside of me  v a n i s h e d.

suddenly, before i even knew it had happened, i was full of you.

i was full of your laughter, filling me up like bubbles. i was full of your smiles and your kindness, soothing a part of me that i didn't even know was hurting.

most importantly of all, i was suddenly full of your love. your love for me that was so innocent, so pure, so honest and without condition.

before i met you, i think i was an empty galaxy. a black hole. i had no stars, no sun, no meteors within me. and with you, there was life. there was a sun, there were moons, and there was an adventure on every planet.

thank you for drifting into my life. thank you for loving me.

at first glance,

she is innocent. just looking at her, i am reminded of something pure.

                               i want her to be happy and to remain safe. secure.

she cries during winter snow storms
             and when it's raining
 because she is worried about the stray animals that are without shelter.

she turns to me,
unprompted,
and points to one of our cats.

("can you believe we just keep these animals in our house?
they're just living here!
they don't even know.")

she sees a raccoon crawling out of the dumpster
and she says that it's cute.
she gives him a name.

on christmas eve,
she goes out and buys each cat a toy
so that they don't feel left out on the holiday.

her heart is full.

and with her in my life, so is mine.

the other day,
you mentioned crying on our anniversary
because you love me.

i remember.

we couldn't do anything extravagent but it was still special.
we spent the day together.
i love being by your side.

you asked me if i ever "just cry" because i love you so much.

you always fall asleep before me.
i swear, once you put your phone down

my love for you pumps its way through my veins and comings flooding out.
