When you first walked by the alley, this shop was definitely not there. It seemed to have appeared between the bakery and the seamstress, wedged between just enough for a door and an ornately painted window with "Athenaeum" scrawled in flowing print. Feeling strangely compelled, despite the awareness that shops don't just wedge their way into pre-existing buildings where there had been no vacancies, you reach for the door and push your way inside.The smell of vellum and ink permeates the air, a hint of old and musty books following just behind. It wasn't overwhelming, but it was clear that the newest best sellers would never be found on the shelves here. As far as you could see, the inside seemed much larger than should be possible. Stacks and shelves seemed to extend further than the window and door, despite the neighbors you know were bustling with customers and clients.As you step further inside, you hear a rustle of feathers and paper, and a soft, lilting voice calls out, "Welcome to Athenaeum. Feel free to browse, but beware the books in the back." Spying a delicate looking Fester, who had her beak buried in a thick, old time, you realize this must be the owner of the shop "What's wrong with the books in the back?" you ask, your voice hushed as if you were in a sacred library. It just felt...right. She peers up at you, considering for a moment. "They...are sometimes more than most people can handle. Some have minds of their own."As if on cue, a squawking and clatter came from the furthest stacks. You both look back, and something seems to dart from one side of the shelves to the other. "Explore at your own risk."
