Esme Ogg is a gourd witch. She lives at Ogg Farm which is on the edge of Little Gravebottom and not far from the Vhoorl Court Estate The farm is now just a farmhouse which she shares with her friend, Merrily, and two small fields. One field is for growing herbs and vegetables and the other has been turned into a wildlife garden. It has attracted many birds, animals, a few fairies and a dryad.
She tries to be as green as possible where transport is concerned. She only uses her car if she's going on a major shopping expedition or the weather's very bad. The rest of the time she walks or flies on her broomstick.
She has a bawdy sense of humour and, after she's had a few alcoholic beverages, will sing rude songs - one of them is about a hedgehog and another about Wizard Allard's staff. She's never short of beer because her nephew, Marutuk brews it as a hobby. She makes sure she's always sober before she drives or flies her broomstick, though.
