Crème was one of Nuq's best friends when the two of them were growing up, and they would frequently be seen playing together. As they grew older, however, the tigrean- born into a lower class family- began to grow frustrated and jealous of her friend's high status within Subetan society. Everyone respected Nuq's family as old aristocracy, wealthy and well-connected. She often asked if her friend could maybe just this one time get her an invitation to one of those fancy parties she was always attending, but Nuq would demure. They were boring, she insisted. Just a bunch of people talking about business and gossip. To Crème, however, it was clear that Nuq was only refusing because she was embarrassed of her dirt poor friend.
Crème's frustration gave way to a plan, however, the first time that Nuq indulged in a little too much whiskey at a bar they were spending the evening at. The tigrean realized that this wasn't the first time Nuq had overindulged- that she, in fact, had a bad habit of getting carried away with alcohol. This was something Crème could exploit.
She started to bring cheap beer and wine to their get togethers, framing it as innocent social drinking. However Crème herself barely drank anything, while subtly encouraging Nuq to get further and further past a safe level of tipsy. After several months of this, she had primed Nuq to think nothing of it when she approached her a few hours before she was supposed to go to an important social event for a little "pregaming." Once Nuq was pleasantly buzzed, she managed to convince her to bring Crème along to the party- after all, what could it hurt? Maybe they could make it more fun together.
That in was all Crème needed- she made it a point to "pregame" with Nuq before each of the parties, going along about half of the time. While Nuq acquired an increasingly sour reputation for publicly embarrassing herself, Crème was the patient, saintly friend who would pick her up and bring her home... and this impression was only further cemented by the carefully calculated parties Crème did not attend where Nuq was even more of a nuisance. Meanwhile, the tigrean proved herself to be polite, well spoken, and devilishly charismatic, rapidly winning friends among Subeta's upper class.
Then... Crème started to receive these invitations personally. And Nuq was firmly disinvited.
And Crème began to wonder if it wouldn't be possible to find even more of these callow, hedonistic aristocrats who could she could get all the wealth and power she had ever wanted out of, by the careful application of a few extra subtle refills...
