Don't fear the Reaper, indeed. She likes poetry. Nobody who thoroughly enjoys poetry could be an evil person.
Because you see, everyone's got to have a hobby. And when you have a bad habit of killing anything you touch... well. You make adjustments. Books are made up of dead matter already, no harm done. And all of her favorite poets? You guessed it - they're all dead. If she so desired, she could contact any one of them and ask for more poetry.
