History:
Created out of comet dust and a dying star, Abatos was made to be an apprentice for Apollo Archaius Xihuitl as a planetary messenger. As he grew older, Abatos became fastinated with the plant Subeta and the native*s culture. At 73 he was given his first solo assignment: to observe one of Subeta*s inhabitants and record his observations for future study. Under no circumstance was he to interfere in the lives of mortals, thus disturbing the delicate balance of the universe the Elders maintained.
Unfortunately, that rule would soon be broken. He was assigned to a female Tigrean, approximately the same mortal age as him, named Deirde. What started out as an ordinary assignment soon escalated into something more as he prevented her attempted suicide (leaping from a 200 foot cliff). Of course, you can*t just save someone*s life in midair and not expect them to notice. For the next two months, Abatos kept his contact with Deirde and her "family" secret.
However, word soon got to the Elders. Deciding it was best to let Deirde*s destiny be fulfilled, they arranged for her to be trapped in a burning building. As soon as Abatos learned of the plot, he rushed to the blazing building and carried her out. Her lungs were filled with smoke, and her heart was not beating with the music of her soul. Summoning every ounce of his galactic power, he willed his celestial magic to enter her being and revive her. At first, Abatos thought it was too late. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't get her heart to stuutter for more than a few beats. At last, when all seemed lost, the tigress stuttered to life.
But at a price. Abatos had used up so much of his galactic power, that he could no longer live among his felow space faring friends. Much of his powers had been lost as well, including his immortality. He was condemmed to live among the mortals on Subeta. Having no place to go, he joined Dierde and her "family" of misfits.
