Born (or perhaps simply squished into existence) somewhere in the sparkly folds of deep space, Morph was never exactly ordinary. A pink, wiggly blob of giggles and general nonsense, he first belonged to John Silver, the most feared and unexpectedly soft-hearted cyborg to ever fry up space shrimp.

Morph wasn’t built for subtlety. He bounced instead of walked, squeaked instead of spoke, and had a particular fondness for shiny things, spoons, and getting into places he absolutely should not be. Picture a floating jelly bean with the chaotic energy of five puppies and the loyalty of a golden retriever, and you’re halfway there.

He met Jim Hawkins aboard the RLS Legacy, and the moment his gooey little eyes landed on that floppy, windswept, utterly dreamy hair, Morph made a decision. “Yes,” he thought. “This is mine now.”

After a brief and chaotic introduction involving a lot of face-mimicking, food-slorping, and giggling from the rafters, Morph decided to permanently attach himself (not literally, but very nearly) to Jim’s side. Or more specifically, to his glorious, shampoo-commercial-worthy locks.

As the ship soared through the Etherium in search of the legendary Treasure Planet, Jim and Morph became inseparable. They survived mutinies, map puzzles, and narrow escapes together, always with Morph close by, squeaking with excitement, impersonating grumpy crewmates, or curling up sleepily in the crook of Jim’s neck (right under that magnificent fringe).

But in the end, the real treasure wasn’t glowing or made of gold. It was something far rarer: the bond between a brave, kind-eyed boy and the unlikely father figure who believed in him. And when their journey reached its final, star-soaked moments, John Silver made the most selfless choice of all.

With a quiet smile and one last affectionate boop on the nose, he told Morph to stay with Jim, where his little pink heart clearly belonged (probably nestled somewhere behind that ridiculous, perfect hair).

Now, Morph lives his best blob life. He’s still up to mischief, of course, bothering space professors, stealing cookies, and bouncing around like a sentient gummy bear with no bedtime. But at the end of each day, he always finds his way back to the Benbow Inn, where his most precious treasure waits.

Hidden high in the dusty rafters, Morph has built a tiny secret library, a cosy little nook made of old biscuit tins and bits of string, glowing softly under a single fairy light. There, nestled among well-loved spacer storybooks and crumb-speckled cookbooks, are the pages that hold his happiest memories. Tales of daring comets and brave stowaways, recipes for moonbeam pudding and asteroid stew, all read aloud once upon a time by Silver’s gruff, gentle voice, with Morph curled nearby, blinking slowly in contentment.

Some pages are wrinkled, others sticky with jam (Morph insists it’s art), but each one is soaked in stardust and love. And if you listen closely on a quiet night, you might just hear a soft little squeak from the rafters, and the turning of a page.
