The legend says that in order to become a dragon, a brocaded carp must swim upstream and pass though the Dragon's Gate.

This was what Kaiji had accomplished over a century ago. Once he swam and leaped against the river's current and finally passed though the gate, his old life as a koi ended. His body grew bigger and longer. His fins became feet with sharp talons. His face turned more catlike. He even grew a set of horns and longer whiskers. Everything about Kaiji had changed to become a dragon. The only things he got to keep from his previous life were all his beautiful scales that shimmered in the sunlight and his determination.

Now as a dragon, Kaiji was able to go places beyond the river; such as soaring above the clouded mountaintops, and exploring the ocean's waters. He even started collecting various things like seashells and flowers that he'd found on his adventures. Kaiji was happily satisfied with his new life and wouldn't wish for anything different.

Inspired by the Japanese proverb 'koi no taki-nobori'.
