Ah, hello there. Yes, you. Don't be frightened, I mean you no harm. Your inability to speak and move is only temporary... until we finalize the process. You seem surprised to see me. You were expecting someone else, I take it? My counterpart, Aeonia, perhaps? She has much to offer those lucky enough to visit her so it's no surprise she is the favoured one. But surely your spell-worker advised you that according to your spirit's needs, you may encounter me as well.... No...? That's quite an irresponsible thing to do on their part. Sending someone beyond the veil so unprepared is rather unethical, I think. And I bet you paid a pretty penny for it too. Oh, well, it's too late to do anything about it now. Forgive my rudeness, I never introduced myself. My name is... well, nothing you would be able to utter since my name is silence itself. But you can call me Ekho, as my counterpart finds it amusing. This is my domain. Do not let the quiet and the vast white emptiness distress you, it only needlessly prolongs the process. How should I best explain it... Aeonia, she is that which fills up a person - with joy, color, knowledge, riches. I am the one who empties everything out. Which is to say that if you arrived in my domain, it must mean you have some things deep down you need to come to terms with. Only by doing so will you be able to leave. You see, my silence draws out the misapprehensions, the fearful hopes and "noise" inside your heart. You will feel these things being pulled away from you, until you're left face to face with nothing but the cold truth. The only truth about yourself that matters. Like an icy glass mirror you'll begin to see your true reflection. The experience is often humbling. Crying is perfectly normal, expected even. But, a word of advice - don't try to resist the truth, whatever it may be. Some find it too unbearable to look at, and between the consuming silence and their refusal to accept what they find... some have gone mad. And I don't wish that for you, because there is no going back from there. My only hope is that you've lived a virtuous life so far, so you won't have to see anything too upsetting. Now, shall we begin? Come, open your eyes and look into my own. That's it. Slowly now. Oh, don't cry, we've barely even started. I'll be as gentle as I can and don't worry, we have all of eternity to come to terms with everything.
