The first-born daughter, eldest of the litter, destined to be a warrior – and a failure. Mauser cannot fight; she can maim, she can kill, but blacking out and murdering your opponent in a friendly match, as Mauser had to find out, is as good as a death blow to that career. As additional hardship, she grew up to be the smallest of the four litter sisters, by a significant amount. Her three younger sisters tower over her.
And so, Mauser could not be the fighter that she was supposed to be. A deep shame for her. And Mauser considers herself lucky that after her own failure, the youngest, the unlikely scaredy cat Malaise, showed that she was up for taking over the warrior mantle for the family.
Mauser is grateful, and she made sure to teach her youngest sister everything she could, she was happy to see that Malaise took to the coliseum with relative ease, and it brought the both of them close.
But in the quiet moments, Mauser is so bitter. She did not only lose her status, she lost her purpose, and she has only ever been lost and adrift since.
Mauser holds her head up high, and puts on a brave face. She is still the oldest. If there is one thing she is still too proud to do, it is to admit in front of her younger sisters that she constantly feels like she's falling apart, piece by piece.
What else is there to do, other than keep moving, and keep pretending?
