There is Hollywood, and then there is real life. A Hollywood version of Leigh would probably end with his "misunderstood genius" landing him the gorgeous girl of his dreams and letting him save the world from disaster ten times over, leaving him a hero with fortune and glory to last a lifetime. The real Leigh could do that, too, but he would first have to get over his shortcomings, as any real person has, and have any interest in women at all. Or an interest in any other living thing, period, beyond the purpose of study.
Don't misunderstand. He is a genius, but not uncommonly so, or in any kind of extraordinary way. He is more than capable in multiple fields of study, and his IQ is most certainly in the top bracket, but what does that even really mean in this age? He could be a tactician, or a strategist, and his level of broad yet impressively in-depth knowledge would put him in a unique position over the average person. His only problem is that he doesn't really know how to use it all, and his fears prevent him from taking a forward-facing attitude. He constantly absorbs more information than he knows what to do with and, where he could be practical with it, he instead flounders in an effort to compile, and catalog, and organize, and retain.
It's sad, really. He absorbs so much without really learning.
