Captain Sevastian Nikolai Orlov of the HMS Durgasht

The Durgasht was a magnificent ship. Her paint of a lovely shade of navy blue, with a mermaid made of solid wood adorning her bow. Gold trim framed her captains quarters, and other various places. She could hold over seventy men in her hull, but with that many men, she had to have a large mess hall. Not to mention that she has many cannons to ward off any pirates. She was a magnificent ship.
Was...

The sea lurched and swayed as the wind raged on, the sea spray coating everything it touched. The storm was the worst in years, and threatened to swallow them whole the moment they give up. The rain pelted down in sheets as the lightning lit up the sky. The Durgasht crew were under harsh conditions, and under a lot of pressure to keep her afloat. But her crew could do it... right?
"Lower those sails! LOWER THE SAILS!" Sevastian shouted at the top of his lungs. With all the rain and noise, he had to in order to be heard. He knew having the sails up while in a storm was a bad idea. With those winds it could make the ship tip over. He would have helped his men, but he had to steer the ship, and with these waves, it was proving to rather difficult.
"Captain! We've lost a few men to the seas! We haven't the man power to keep her afloat!" Sevastian glared at his crewman. That wasn't what he wanted to hear.
"Bloody hell man! We have enough, you're just not doing it right! Just get those sales down and leave the rest to me!" The man saluted him and took off as fast as he could to the other end of the ship. Great, he was down a few men, how was he supposed to get this ship to port now? He was right though, Sevastian didn't have enough man power to run his ship. He only had the minimum amount that the government would give him, and a few had died in pirate raids.
But he couldn't let his crew or his ship down. He grabbed the wheel and became determined to safe them.
Mother nature had a different plan.

She crashed the ship off an abandoned island off the coast of Florida. Only a small handful of the crew survived. The Durgasht was smashed, and not much of the ship remained. The raging seas and torrential winds had claimed her.

----------

The slow steady drip of water woke a very drowsy, sweat soaked man from his sleep. His eyes slowly opened to see nothing but blackness. The only amount of light coming in was from a tiny window on his far right, and it didn't light up very much. It smelt musty, and of sweat. A few muffled groans and coughs could be heard not too far away.
Sevastian went to left his arms and was shocked when they were halted before he could touch his face. When his eyes adjusted, he could see that they were restrained with chains and leather. "What the-?" He attempted to move his legs, but found they too where bound with chains. He struggled, and tried with all his might, to break the chains.
"Captain?" A meek voice came from behind a wall. It had a window that had bars in it, and behind those bars was a crewman of his. It was a deckhand, and very young, still a boy really. "Captain? Is that you?"
Settling back down on his metal table, Sevastian grunted. "Aye, it's me. Is there anyone else there with you?"
"No sir, it's just us two that I know of. You've been out for a long time sir. Days I think." The boy began to cry and his hands on the bars began to shake. "They're dead sir, they all died! He killed them all!"
Sevastian sat up as much as his chains would let him, his eyes wide with shock. "What? Who killed them?"
The boys cries quieted, his shaking grew. The bars in his hands started to break from his grip. "The scientist."
The last thing Sevastian saw, was the gold gleam of his eyes before someone entered his chamber. The screaming was haunting. He could almost feel his pain. What could he do? These chains would not break. He was helpless.

When the screaming stopped, and the sounds of steady footsteps left the boys chamber, and getting louder, Sevastian tried escaping his restraints again. The door to his own chamber creaked open, the un-oiled hinges piercing his ears. Had he always had good hearing like that? After his third failed attempt to break free, he watched as a man clothed in a large, filthy light brown cloak enter the room. He was slightly old, the messy hair above his ear white, while the rest a deep brown. Though when he met the mans eyes, Sevastian froze. Those eyes were otherworldly. Like the boy. Their yellow depths seemed to lock him in place.
He laughed, his voice cracking as he grinned. His teeth were rotting, and some were missing. He seemed to lacked basic hygiene. "I am glad you are finally awake Captain. I was beginning to worry if you'd ever wake up." His voice was hoarse and raspy.
Sevastian flinched. "What did you do to the boy?" Glaring at the man, wondering what his motives were.
"He is still alive, in a sense." From his pocket he retrieved a needle, which was just as dirty as he was. Its contents, strange; a pale yellow liquid. "I am surprised the boy has lasted this long. He has a strong will to live. Much like you I suppose. Though what I plan on doing to you will be much, much worse." His nasty toothy grin, and the menacing look in his yellow eyes was enough to give Sevastian the chills, and the strong urge to flee. What was this man going to do to him?
Standing next to the table, he took the needle and jabbed it into the captains middle. Sevastian could do nothing, he wanted so bad to move, to run, but some kind of power held him there. Though he was not expecting the immense pain he would experience. It was so intense, sprreading through his body like wildfire, his back arched and he couldn't help but cry out in pain.

He would endure these experiments everyday for days, weeks, and eventually months before the scientist finally only came once a week. The boy, whose name he found out the day after he arrived, was Hants. It was because of the boy he didn't go outright insane. The two survived it together. Until the scientist killed him. Claiming 'He lived to fulfill his purpose'. Sevastian was filled with so much hate, so much rage. That he felt something inside him change. Something happened to him, something so horrible that he could see the fear. Smell it. He embraced the fear.

The thing is, Sevastian knew what he was doing, could see what was happening, but was not in control of his actions. As if someone else was stringing him along. He wanted to so badly to kill the scientist, to rid the world of such a cruel man so no one else would have to suffer. Even though he was larger, more powerful and took on the resemblance of a lion with webbed wings, he couldn't do it. Because the scientist wasn't alone.
"How magnificent! Such a wonderful creature I have created! Don't you agree, Darling?" He peered over to the dark hallway just as a woman clad in dark robes stepped in. Sevastian could feel she was different. Like him, in some ways, only more powerful. The muscles in his new body rippled, ready to pounce at any moment. He stared at her, her eyes the colour of coal, her skin stark white, like she hadn't seen the sun in years.
She moved toward Sevastian with smooth grace, not making any sound as she walked. She leaned toward his beastly face and exhaled. The smell was intoxicating. Roses. "I agree. He is handsome. Your best one yet I think." She laughed. "Besides me of course." Sevastian let out a growl, bearing his long fangs.
"Of course Darling. Shall we sedate him? He is a little too large for this room. I think the basement will do nicely." He reached into his pocket, pulling out another needle. The liquid was a deep purple, a colour he hadn't seen before.
She laughed again, moving her hand across his nose. "Can do." She crooned, and stared at Sevastian with such intensity, he figured she was trying to do something to him. Only, nothing was happening.
Sevastian growled. "Move out of the way, woman. I have no qualm with you." He forced her to the side, her eyes wide, shocked that he remained unfrozen. Though the fury he felt from her was the only warning he had before she too, morphed into a beast and attacked him. Sevastian could barely defend himself, as this body was new and mysterious. The two fought, smashing the walls apart and pretty much destroying the building before he managed to escape. He didn't even think twice before he jumped a cliff above an ocean of jagged rocks and flew away, even though he had no idea how to use his wings. He was glad she could not follow, for she did not have wings. After landing on another island, he dropped from exhaustion, and blacked out for many days.

----------

Eventually, Sevastian worked his way back into regular society, very careful to keep his emotions in check. Because even the slightest amount of anger/rage, he turned into a monster. Only a few times did he loose control and level a town he was currently in. Though the more he turned, the more he could control it. To Sevastian, he wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not.
Figuring he'd be okay, he decided to move to a city. As it was 154 years since... then... Nothing wrong with starting over. It was going great... until he met a girl. Their meeting was electric.
No really. She tried to electrocute him because she knew what he was, and thought he was one of his henchmen out to get her.

Something must be done about him. Sevastian might be the only one who can do anything about it.
