i'm a wannabe, i'm a wannabe angel. for you i wear this mask, at home i tear it off. 'cos i don't need it at all. no, i don't need it at all. you'll probably end up in heaven and i'll be burning in hell. i'm a wannabe angel.

for the majority of my teenage years, i lived in narnia. yep, narnia.
(no, not literally. as in, my closet).
yep, i was a narnian for about nineteen years. and then i came out. psh, i didnt need my family much, anyways. screw them. i could live without them.
and to prove it to them, i got married. 3 months after being outed i got married. too soon? perhaps. but it was nice while it lasted. it lasted three months. i didnt need him either, anyway.

i guess at the time i thought i did. i lost myself for a while, i admit. i did some things that i am not proud of.. definitely not proud of. that's an understatement.
what i did haunted me in my dreams every single night for three years. it still does. but i'm used to it. who needs dreams, anyway? that's what i get for.. shooting someone.

it isnt like i knew him. i try not to think about him. i was drunk. i didnt even know him. the world didn't need him. i hope he had no family. i checked the newspapers and there was no mention of him.
it seemed unfair that someone could be shot and just slip away from the world without even a small mention.
i didnt even know his name.
i tried to find it. i honestly tried. but i couldn't. so i pushed him to dwell at the back of my mind and he has been manifesting there ever since.

but recently, i found my cure. drugs. drinks. they all work.
well... distract. a distracted mind is almost as good as a sane one. who needs sanity, anyway?

i regret it. but i've moved on. we're all insignificant; we live, we work, we die, no one cares. but he should have died of old age. not from a manmade bullet from a manmade gun from a man's hand. my hand. shit.

life is a bitch, but she's taught me dearly.

old version. for those who are interested.

Running a hand nervously through his hair he eyed the pink present sat on his lap, the car door handle and then the front door of the house he was parked outside of. As he had been for the past five minutes or so. Inside was his girlfriend, and she was upset. Fifteen minutes previous he had received a call from her and had listened patiently whilst she screamed and sobbed about how her birthday this year was the worst ever, and then once she had hung up he had gotten straight into the car and driven to her house. The main problem: he didn't know how to console people.

Being extremely introverted, dealing with other people's feelings - especially when they are upset - is hard to do. He often felt awkward and never knew what to say. Gulping down his fears, he reached for the door handle and exited the car. A few moments later he was greeted at the door by Adelyn, her eyes red and puffy, mascara streaked down her cheeks. Smiling weakly, she leaned forward and hugged him and then invited him inside. They made their way up to her room.

She ranted; he listened. Listening was something he was good at. When she asked questions, he responded by nodding or provided her with brief answers, occasionally giving her an awkward hug. Everything was going well - or so he had thought.
"Why are you so insensitive?" she practically screamed at him, raking her nails down her face.
"..What?"
"You're not even listening! You say about ONE word every five minutes. Why can't you at least pretend that you're concerned?" The tears were flowing again, the dried-up mascara streaks washing out.
"I was-"
"No. You wasn't. Don't lie," she snarled, fisting her hands and furiously rubbing her eyes. Now she seemed more angry than sad.
"Adelyn, I-"
"Just leave!" she glared. He calmly placed her unwrapped present on the edge of her bed and started walking towards the door. She swiped at it with her hand and sent it flying across the room. Turning around, he looked at her defiant, stubborn face.
"I'll see you later," he pulled the door shut behind him and walked back to his car. She always had had a bad temper.

He pulled to a halt at a red traffic light, tapping his fingers lightly against the steering wheel.
Brrrrr.
Brrrrr.
Frowning, he looked around for his cell phone which was making the vibration noises. He noticed it sat on the seat beside him and he reached across, pressing the button to put it onto speaker mode.
"Hello?"
"I'm sorry about earlier." It was Adelyn.
"It's fine."
"I just got.. Angry. I shouldn't have taken it out on you."
"It's fine. You know, my friend Gav used to have anger issues too, he started going to sessions and he got better."
"..."
"If you could be more like Gav-"
"Are you kidding me? I ring to apologise and I get this crap?!" she was mad again. "-even more insensitive than before! Do you have any idea how that sounds-..."
He sighed quietly and let her rant, switching the car into gear and driving forward.
"..-you only ever talk about Gav, Gav, Gav! If you want me to be so much like him, why not just date HIM?" she snarled and he sighed. This wasn't their first time having this conversation.
"Look," he started.
"Why can't you be more sensitive?!" she shrieked.
"I said I'm sorr- Shit!" distracted, he hadn't noticed a car pulling into the main lane.
He yanked the steering wheel around and the car skidded, crashing sideways into the other car. The momentum kept the car moving, rolling over the other car's roof and then down the road. It eventually slowed and came to a halt.

"...H-Hello?... Are.... Are you there?..."
Beeeeeeeeep.

"We're sorry. We're truly sorry-"
"I want to see him!" she stamped her foot against the shiny white linoleum.
"That might not be a good-"
"Amnes-"
"Let me see him!" she barged past the doctor and the nurse, striding into room 7b. Lying on the bed was her boyfriend, and sat next to the bed was.. Gav.
"What are you doing here?" she snarled quietly, trying not to wake the figure in the bed. Gav's head snapped up, as if he had been asleep.
"I have just as much right to be here as you."
"But-"
"He's waking up."
They both fell silent as the figure in the bed stirred. Blinking wearily, he poked his head out from under the sheets, smiling at his friend.
"Gav, buddy, I missed you," he outstretched an arm and gripped onto his friend's hand. Adelyn stared.
"Hello?" she said, approaching the bed and sitting on the edge. "I'm so sorry, hun." He looked up and blinked at her.
"Who.. Who are you?" he blinked slowly, staring at her.
"Wh-what? Stop messing around!" she frowned, angry again, and reached an arm to grab his wrist. Gav was faster and caught her by the wrist with his free hand.
"Don't," he said in a warning voice. Adelyn stared at her boyfriend. The confusion in his face was prominent. He really did have amnesia. He really didn't remember her. But he remembered Gav.
Feeling her eyes starting to sting, she snatched her handbag off the bed and stood up, flouncing toward the door. The doctor was stood there, smiling pitifully at her.
"I'm sorry..." he said, eyes twinkling with sadness. "It's probably best you don't confuse him. There's no chance of him regaining any of his lost memories and.. Confusing him may harm him even more."
The stinging in her eyes overflowed and trickled down her cheeks.
"I understand," he sniffed, gulping. She turned around to say her last goodbyes.
"I love you." She froze.
"I love you too," Gav smiled, running a thumb over the back of his friend's hand.
"Stay with me?"
"Duh," Gav laughed softly as he was yanked forward into a hug.
Adelyn stared. She had never seen her ex so...

"You're so sensitive," Gav snorted, patting his back.
