Any interest in `Rin's story begins after his parents moved their family from the quiet suburbs to the busy, lackluster city. It only took two years of the stress before his father broke down and succumbed to it. He divorced his wife and left the family in search of greener pastures, to where he has gone, none of them know. `Rin's mother fell into drinking habits, despite never before seeing alcohol as an appropriate crutch. Following a hit and run accident, she was arrested, and `Rin was left in the car of his older brother. Jackson 'Jay' Mastro always claimed that he had seen this coming in his parents, but `Rin has some doubts on that. The glacier Pherret mostly remained in his own shell, looking towards artificial worlds and comic books for solstice among all of the chaos his parents created. Jay did one good thing for `Rin, throw him back into the real world. `Rin's older brother worked a small job in a chop shop chain, eventually climbing the ranks to go from 'Minuscule noise' to 'Noticeable but easily replaced manager of operations' in their city's branch. Jay employed a reluctant `Rin as a delivery hand, mostly because he didn't have to pay him much, and there was no worry of the Pherret over powering him. As time went by, `Rin worked his way into the heart of the chop shop, stealing and breaking apart cars. This has given him a decent understanding of vehicles. Considering he was still in school, the Pherret was expected to keep his trap shut about the chop shop operation, and he did, even after meeting Aster Marcus. However, the detective gave him an outlet to express his more fun loving and carefree nature. Whether or not this comes from him moving past his family members, or eliminating them entirely from his mind, no one is actually sure. What they do know is that he seems to be an excitable, spunky roller blader with a desire to become a detective.FRIENDS:

Asterias Marcus: Aster is `Rin's employer. The Pherret's skin was saved one day when the private detective helped him avoid a beating on the streets. The next day, `Rin skipped school in order to avoid any of these individuals again, and Aster allowed him to work a small desk job at his agency. Aster provides a fairly stable role model for `Rin and occasionally cracks a small smile when the Pherret enthusiastically suggests he'll take up the same profession as the large Celinox. Aster always seems to have something to hide regarding his past, but `Rin's one to pry. Affectionately, `Rin often refers to Aster solely by the nickname 'Boss'.

The Waitress: Sweet natured, young southern woman. The Waitress works at a local diner where Aster and `Rin often frequent, considering neither possess cooking skills. `Rin often describes this Kumos as 'One of the many women who would chase after Aster, but one the few he might track back down.' That being said, Aster seems to harbor no interest in having a personal relationship with her, beyond a friendly good morning each day and casual chat. `Rin has concerned himself with getting Boss to find himself a wife before he enters his middle aged years, and this Kumos is his prime selection.

Fail: Fail is one of `Rin's friends, and occasionally his partner in wrong doing. Normally, he likes to put a leash around one of Fail's antlers, have him push off on his skateboard, and ride along back on his roller skates. That's called summer.
