As you take an evening stroll, the temperature drops as the sun's last rays of light slowly ebb away. Your breath curls into a small white cloud and disappears into the night, a shiver rolling down your spine as you stop. A graveyard lays in front of you, a light fog snakes around it's many tombstones, the grass uneven with random hills and lumps. Spider webs drape the stones, as well as the broken gate entrance. Your curiosity drowns your common sense, and you walk towards the entrance. Pushing gently against the gate entrance, it squeaks open. The light of a half moon shades the scene in a silver, your gaze sifting through the graveyard...your breath catches in your throat- you see something moving ahead. It slowly stalks toward you, hiding itself in the darkest of shadows, but you know it's there.

You turn to run- but there sitting on the gate is a small green cat. Rubbing your eyes, you find yourself confused-is this real? The green cat stopped licking it's paw, turning it's icy gaze towards you, it's face is scarred and eyes are a pupiless white. It's tail flicks in annoyance, the tip is shredded with the bone exposed. With a yawn, the cat jumps down and walks towards you. It's matted green fur clings to it's small bony frame, ribs pricking its fur with the backbone visible, and bits of bone exposed all over it's body. It's whiskers twitch as it stops in front of you, staring up at you patiently-jaws parting in a small greeting mew. Not responding, the cat brushes against your leg, then walks a few paces away, staring over it's shoulder at you and beckoning with it's tail. Hesitantly, you follow. Stepping over the lumps in the ground (hoping their not someone's body), you stop as you gaze around- the small green cat is perched on a small tombstone set in the corner. You kneel down as the cat paws at the tombstone while murmuring a few meows, it's blank gaze rests behind you as you brush the dust off the tombstone to read-
'Here lies a beloved cat named Zoe, who died in a forest fire. (March 11, 1919- August 16, 1924)'.
"Zoe?" you whisper, and the cat instantly straightens up, staring at you with what seems a small smile with whiskers twitching in reply.
A sudden chill races down your back as you hear a small crackling sound, slowly turning, a few paces ahead you make out the dark figure you had seen before. A hiss and the creature steps into the light, an orange and black cat with blue flames rising from it's paws and engulfing it's thrashing tail. Small black bat-like wings are flared out to the side, with it's lips pulled back to bared teeth. You find yourself stumbling backwards- trying to escape.
"What are you doing here?" the orange cat growls. Dumbfounded, you glance around, wondering where the voice had come from. Certainly not from that orange cat?
"I said what are you doing here!" the cat demanded. The blue flames burned brighter while the grass screeched underneath the cats paws, slowly curling into ashes.
"I-I..."
"Answer! Human!" the cat roared, stepping closer, it's furious blue gaze nearly searing your skin.
Zoe, the green cat, then jumped down from her tombstone. The small green cat pranced towards the larger cat and brushed against it's leg, letting her tail trail along the larger cat's flank. Then stopping to turn around and sit in front of the larger cat, mewing cheerfully. The orange cat looks confused, and then, questioning, uttering meows back here and there. After a few moments, the orange cat's gaze flickers back up towards you.
"Zoe says your no harm,...." the orange cat says before staring at you long and hard, "..I guess I'll trust her on this one.." it murmurs, twitching it's whiskers.
You blink in awe, still wondering how this orange cat could possibly talk.
"How did you get here, human? Did you get lost? Can't find your way? Your lucky Zoe found you first, or else I would of had you as soon as you walked in."
"Err...y-yeah I was just going for a walk...but umm..how....how can you talk?" you stutter, contemplating whether you are still sane.
"Don't worry about that..." the orange cat replies, the blue flames beginning to smolder, and it's eyes turning from a blue to a green. "Do you even know where you are?
You shrug.
"Well, I guess I had better welcome you to the "Lost and Forgotten Graveyard". I am not sure it is actually what it's called...but it sure is lost and forgotten. You see, there use to be a small village here, with many animals and humans. About 83 years ago, a forest fire broke out...and it wiped out many of the humans...and animals..." the she-cat's gaze quickly flickered towards Zoe, who had been laying down pawing at her own tail.
"Umm....what caused the fire?" you ask suddenly.
The orange she-cat glares at you momentarily before her gaze softens."Simmer, caused it."
"Simmer?" you repeat.
"Yes, me. I caused it."

Story:

All I wanted was to be normal.
Not looked at as disabled.
But normal.

Everyone else flew into the sky, diving gracefully, gliding, and fluttering as I watched in envy. I was the one born with small wings...so small they could only sit at my back uselessly. They all saw me as helpless, and babied me. Pitied me and were sympathetic-didn't they understand? I didn't want their pity, or their sympathizing, I wanted their respect. I could take care of my own self.
I knew I had something they didn't have...
Something they had never seen before...some claimed I had been possessed by a demon, made a deal with the devil, or perhaps even a legend in the making. They hadn't believed their eyes. The one night I had finally let go.
It was in the the beginning of fall. The trees littered the forest floor with their mulit-colored leaves, and the days grew shorter. Another change was close, I could tell. I could feel it, I knew something special would happen, I could feel strength flow like water through my body.
And one day- I had enough.
One other cat in our group my age had tormented me for months about my wings, trying to impress one of the males who I also had a liking for.
I exploded.
I felt the blood pulse in my ears, my vision clouded by blue. My skin burned, but oh-the rush. I could only roar as what happened took place- blue flames scattered from my paws, as more flames burst from my tail and my mouth. My skin crawled as I screeched in pain as the fire inside my belly ripped through my throat and out my mouth, threatening to roast the cats who had constantly provoked me. Then, after that- it all happened quick.
I stood there, in the clearing with flames encircling me. They licked at the trees, causing them to groan as they creaked and crashed to the ground. The heat rose, and the blue flames from my paws turned to smoke.
What have I done.
I heard yowls and cries in the distance. Quickly I followed them, leaping over the fallen logs, bursting through shrubs.
It was all over...my family, my group had been scattered among the scene, some still drawing their last breaths as their eyes glazed over. Dead. Limp.
But I couldn't stay,
the trees whined around me and threatened to crush me. I ran. I ran as fast as I could. My heart raced, and beat against my chest, my paws nearly gliding across the ground. I leaped over flames, dashed under and swerved around falling trees. The smoke of it all began to grip my lungs, I had trouble breathing, I felt weak. My vision was beginning to fade, but I didn't stop. I continued until I was far out of reach from the flames. I would never forget that night. I watched on an overlooking hill as my home burned to ashes, it began to smolder within a few hours. And as I slept, I dreamt of what had happened. Over, and Over, and Over. Again.
Until I woke. The forest bellow showed no signs of life, just black.
Ashes.
It wasn't until much later a graveyard was built in the center of the forest. Many of the bodies that had been found from the fire were buried here. Many, however, were never found.
