'Luck' was supposed to be indifferent.
But in truth, they just were different.
Anniya, the small creature with a big heart, was always looking to bring joy to the lives of others, whether they knew it or not. She enjoyed the little things, like maybe bringing a little break in the rain for a few street-goers to get to safer shelters. Or even just keeping the glass from breaking when accidentally pushed off the counter. From time to time there were bigger things, such as steering people away from direct harm, or maybe giving a little nudge towards winning something well-deserved.
But peace was in her mind alone.
For after Anniya, followed another.
A darker creature. Misfortune. Ayiina had been created in the sake of balance, and simply given the reverse of the lighter one's name. This did not suit the shade. Not very much at all. And with the ability (and will) to change physical shapes, Ayiina began to move independently. Going even so far as to inflict wrath on those that had previously tasted Aniiya's fortune. Eventually Ayiina would identify primarily as a male entity, and began to play his hand at winning the unspoken war between himself, and his lighter counterpart.
Do you dare accept a gift of luck?
