The Black Flower

Born and raised in heaven but felt like I was in hell.
They claim my heart is a black hole but I know it
to be otherwise; I can feel it beating, always beating,
like a shark always swimming. Yet they claim I am
different, unlike them, the only red flower in a
field of white. But slowly that innocent red fades
and the flower begins to change. It gets deeper
and darker as it's soul changes to a tormented black.
Soon the flower is black, the only black flower
in a field of white. Specks of red remain with it
but still it is shunned by the white.
Soon it is eradicated and the garden is once
again filled with pure white.
A bright, cold, heartless white that the black
flower is glad to be rid of.
