Dubhshlan
(dove-shlawn)

Dubhshlan's life has gotten very complicated.

Hidden by his clothing are flexible panels--metallic green shot through with arcane and mostly geometric glyphs written in silver—which are protected by skin grafted over them, sealing them inside him. The panels vary from roughly the size of his palm to something half the size of an average piece of writing paper and are connected to different muscle groups in his legs, upper arms and shoulders. Tubes which rise out of his skin, like exposed tree roots, arch up from a socket then burrow back into his flesh at another socket making the tubes replaceable in the event of damage or wear. Some tubes connect panels to eachother but some tubes appear to connect panels to more deeply placed, hidden, implants and he has a vague distrust of those. Within the tubes are bundles of fine wires which conduct electrical impulses from his muscles to the central apparatus placed high on his back and into which the wings 'clip'. By using motions such as pushing away with the toes of one foot or hunching his shoulders foreward he can control the angle, pitch and spread of the wings.

is a hitman masquerading as a bounty hunter. He only kills criminals who really are wanted 'dead or alive'. He really does collect the rewards. He even really has a license to do the job. But he does not select his targets. They are selected for him by a well known and very public philanthropist, who happens to run a small criminal empire on the side.

He is trying to earn back evidence which could ruin his brother's military career, and by association negatively affect the careers of many of his extended family as well. His 'boss' saw within his loyalty to his brother an opportunity to use Dubhshlan's skills to weed-out some of the criminals in his employ who had become too notorious to continue being of use. Every criminal he kills is a tally-mark on the sheet, a step closer to getting his own life back as well as finally ensuring that his family is safe.

The killing weighs heavy on him though because he wasn't always a hitman, he wasn't a violent man at all really he was an inventor. Quietly working in his lab, making new trinkets and gizmoes. His particular and long-time preferred obsession was human flight...

The best inventors the military had a team working on that project and he was able to join them. Eventually the team developed a set of wings, beautiful panels of coloured 'church glass' edged in bronze and ribbed with silver so that they more closely resembled feathers than the energy-collecting plates which they really were. He was selected as the primary test subject and into his body were grafter the connecting panels which sent signals from various muscle groups to the wings so that by using natural motions his body already knew he could direct the angle and flare of the wings.

Flexible green panels were put into his thighs, protected by a grafting of skin the green of the rectangles is muted but still very noticeable. Fainter still are the silver lines within the layers of the panels which conduct electrical impulses from his legs into thin wires which are gathered together and sheathed in protective tubes rise out of his skin, like exposed tree roots arching out of the ground in one location and burrowing back in at another. The wires are sheathed in protective tubes and while there is no exposed metal he does regular checks to make sure there is no damage or wear.
