Swim has a minion!

Minion the Guiee

Swim looked out the bars of his cage and sighed. Surrounding her were many other cages just like hers, but instead they each contained something different. To the left there was a tall, silver giraffe with slick, shiny skin. To the right there was a tiny, rainbow-colored bug with feathered wings. She wasn't sure what was in front, but she presumed it was some type of dog's butt. You may be wondering, what about Swim? What was so special about her? Well, that was it, really. There was really nothing special about her. She was just an ordinary, everyday penguin outside. On the inside, she was probably the most ambitious penguin you'd ever meet. Absurd, maybe, because after all, she was a penguin. What could a penguin do? Still, this wasn't something her tiny little mind could comprehend. One of her biggest dreams was to fly. She'd always wondered what it felt like, soaring high in the skies without a care in the world. She hoped that one day she'd get to experience such an exhilarating feeling, but unfortunately, as many times as she'd tried, no matter how hard his wings had flapped, she couldn't bring her feet to lift off the ground. Suddenly, the truck they were in jerked to a halt. She could hear sounds from outside, like someone talking. And then the door opened and bright, bright sunlight streamed in. The cages next to her rattled against each other and one by one, they were all lifted off the truck. Swim could see a pair of pale white hands grabbing the cage she was in and before she knew it, she had been carried off the truck and into the world outside.

"What about that one, then?" Swim woke up again to the distinct sound of voices, muffled by the thin walls of the room she was held in. This time the room was not as crowded as the other place had been, aside from a few other animals. There was the dog with the butt from earlier-now that his bottom was no longer planted directly in front of Swim's face, Swim could see he was some sort of Bulldog, just with tiny wings jutting out of its back. He stifled a smile. "Alright, then. I'll take her." The voices were still going on, although more audible now. Swim felt drowsy. She yawned and curled up into a ball before drifting off into another deep sleep, despite the loud footsteps making their way towards the room.

When Swim woke up this time, she woke up to find a tall, lanky man in front of her. The tall, lanky man's back was turned to her and he was sitting at a table, working on something. He hadn't seemed to notice Swim. Swim stood up and cautiously walked towards the man. The man swivelled around in his chair, his eyes wide in surprise. He wore thick rimmed glasses and had dark red hair. "Oh, you're awake! That's great. Swim, right?" Swim nodded slowly, words hitched in her throat. Where was she? Who was this man? "I'm Lucas," Lucas offered Swim a bright smile. "Why don't you come here, next to me? I'm not gonna bite." Swim weighed her options before deciding that the worst the man could do was kill her, and that wouldn't be too bad. She waddled towards Lucas and he peered up at what he had been working on. It was a small map, yellowed with time and with countless red X's marked all over it. She frowned and pointed her flipper at a X. "What's that for?" "Ah, oh, you mean this?" Lucas pushed his spectacles further up his nose. He traced a finger along a road. "Just some places I've been wanting to visit. I'm a pilot, but I don't work for anyone. I just fly wherever I want to go." Fly? Pilot? Swim stared at Lucas in astonishment. She wonder, "What is a pilot?" Lucas looked at Swim and knew what she was thinking, "Someone who drives planes, you know, those big machines that can fly up in the sky." Lucas's eyes glittered with excitement and Swim could see how much he had to love it. But Swim couldn't blame him. Flying a big machine, that sounded amazing! Why hadn't she thought of that? Swim looked up at him in adoration. She wanted to be with him, next time he fly the big machine. Lucas smiled widely. "You should come with me next time! I bet you will love it"

From then on the both of them were inseparable. Lucas showed Swim how to work the engine and how to control the plane, although Swim knew she would never be able to fly one herself. Still, being up in the air like that, it felt amazing. To see the whole world beneath you, to see the place you had been locked in your entire life from somewhere far, far away. She'd never felt so happy. After a whole year of living with Lucas, not flying seemed strange. They spent most of their time up in the air. They didn't even have to be going anywhere or doing anything, most of the times they would just talk, words weren't needed. Sometimes they talked so much that before they knew it, the sky had turned dark and they had to land. Swim didn't care. She loved the small daily 'walks' they had everyday. Sure, she had not been able to fly exactly as she hoped she would have, but she didn't mind. Life with Lucas was amazing.
