Nauticus was the first to be adopted by B. B. Shoot, and through a combination of over enthusiasm and naivete, ended up signing a contract with Merana. When the sea witch gazed upon the face (or equivalent of, in Nauticus's case) of her new servant, she uttered forth the following,

"AHAHAHA. OKAY. Seriously? Go and do whatever, kid, you're really no use to me."

Nauticus was not only bound in an unbreakable contract, but he was then considered useless to his new Mistress. With more angry determination than sense, he and B. B. decided to make Merana proud to have him, and since then, he has been training and studying dutifully to become a wise and powerful warrior.

Nauticus is intensely shy and quiet, however, and does not often have a chance to prove himself. Because he is held in such low regard, he often gets away with a lot of things many of Merana's more treasured servants can't, and for the time being, enjoys quite a bit of freedom.

His best friend is Complacence, whom Nauticus met at his job at the cemetery. He met his second-best friend, Blimey, during the events following the brief war between the Pirates and the Islanders. He finds the little sea worm adorable, possibly because of his Hydrus nature, even though nobody else really seems toâ€¦
