The first memory I have is waking up cold and alone, under the moon's light on a deserted beach. I was frighten, because I had no idea how I had gotten there. I didn't even now my own name. . .

I took shelter in the caves that were near the beach, I discovered I didn't like being too far from the water. I spent many weeks alone, as I survived off fruit I found in the wilderness and seaweed that washed ashore.

One day, while gathering food, I came upon a small creature who was trying to hide among a pile a rocks. The idea seem solid, but what the creature didn't realize was that she had a purple glow around her, that made her stand out amongst her fellow rocks.

She screamed and pleaded for her life when I came near and asked me not to hurt her. I told her that I wished her no harm. She was the first living soul I had seen since I had washed up on the beach. And I was determine to make a friend, to no longer be alone. . .

Once she was assured that I had no intention of hurting her, she relaxed and told me her story. She had been traveling with her group, when she had gotten separated from them. She was lost and didn't know where to find them. They never had a final destination. They were nomads, and traveled just travel, never returning to the same place twice.

She was sad and fearful, and like me, very much alone. . .

I asked her what her name was, and she told me, she didn't have one. She then asked me what mines was and I sadly told her I didn't know.

As it began to rain, I offered her shelter with me and she accepted. It wasn't long before the two of us were best of friends.

We came up with names for each other, I named her Gluben, because I thought it was funny sounding, and she named me Deminex, but fondly called me Demmi (sometimes Dummy) for short.

And for a while we were happy or at least I was. It wasn't long before I started to notice a change in demeanor from Gluben. She would smile, but it never seemed to reach her eyes. One day I asked what was wrong, but she told me nothing. And I was sad, because it was the first time she had ever lied to to me. . .

The next day I had woken up, the air was colder than usual and then I realized why - Gluben was gone. I panicked. I searched all the caves, the wilderness nearby, screaming her name as I did so, dread filling me. She was all I had. She couldn't be gone!

I didn't see her until that night, her purple glow unmistakable. I picked her up and held her close and once relief had taken me, anger appeared next. I had never been so angry, I had never screamed so much. How could she leave me like that? All alone? Without a word?

She apologized. Ashamed she had worried me so much. She then told me, she was a nomad by heart, she had never stayed in one place for so long, that if felt unnatural to her. So she left. It was that simple. . . or at least she thought it was.

She had traveled for half the day, when she said she thought about me and what I was doing, and realized she had gone about this the wrong way. She didn't want to be far from me. "If this is your home, then I will make it mines as well," she told me.

I must admit that hearing it made me happy, but I now knew her nature, she could not be happy in one place. So that very night, I packed the few possession that I had, and told her I was ready to go when ever she was. She then smiled a me. The first real smile I had seen in weeks. And with that we were off.

It wasn't long, before I realized, neither us of fit with creatures of the outside world. They considered Gluben my minion. I didn't understand what that meant at first. Then I noticed, these so called minions were treated more like servants than friends, not by everyone, mind you, but by enough.

Minions would follow around their 'Masters' and do whatever they wished of them. And I wondered if me and Gluben had this whole thing backwards. Maybe I was her minion instead, because it was I who would do anything she wanted.

Danger seem to be all around us, I was always getting into fights, but they were all necessary. Being Nomadic, didn't leave much room for a job. Which meant, anything that we needed had to be stolen. I realized early on I was weak and did what I could to get stronger.

Traveling also took me further from the seas that comforted me. I grew resentful of Gluben, especially when I went to get something she wanted that left my face scared. "I want to go home," I told her one night. The outside world was not a place for me. I was not a traveler. I could not live like this.

All I needed were my caves, my seas, and my wilderness.

She was sadden by my decision, but she understood. And with understanding, her false smiles returned.

It took us some weeks, but soon I was finally home. I had miss this place, more than I thought I would. "I can't stay," Gluben told me after a few hours of arriving home.

Silence followed, as I was not willing to go and she not to stay. We both knew what that meant.

"I will visit," she told me as we said our goodbyes.

"No, you won't, traveling back to the same place is against your nature," I whispered in return.

We then said nothing more before I watched her turn around and walk away.

During my travels, creatures like me, said finding a minion was a life long companionship. That they would doggedly follow you wherever you went. And once again, I couldn't help but think me and Gluben had this thing backwards, because as soon as I saw her purple glow disappear in the wilderness. I yelled out, "Gluben, wait for me!" and ran after her, because it was then that I realized, home is where she is and that is all that matters to a faithful minion. . . just like me.
